The Utilities and Central Energy (UCE) group specializes in large central plant work, particularly for district energy serving cities, universities, hospitals, and manufacturing campuses. Our expertise covers both energy production and distribution. We have expertise in sustainable energy production, simple and combined cycle, combined heat and power, and medium voltage power. Our clients look for us to lead large complex projects from concept to completion, including startup, check-out, and commissioning. The Electrical Designer, UCE supports that process by leading the CAD/Revit effort including production of the electrical 3D model and drawing deliverables. POSITION OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES The Electrical Designer I plays a key role in the successful execution of projects and development of electrical drawings. They will focus primarily on the production of AutoCAD drawings and Revit modeling. Reporting to an Electrical Engineering Manager, the Electrical Designer I is responsible for producing quality construction documents and coordinating design work with other engineering disciplines. The successful candidate will be expected to work within a team environment, interface with KFI clients on site, and collaborate with other project team members. Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following: Active engagement with learning opportunities both on the job and dedicated learner. Gather electrical data from project team members. Electrical room layouts, including layout of electrical equipment (transformers, switchboards, switchgear, motor control centers, panel boards). Modeling of equipment and raceway in 2D and 3D, clash detection with other disciplines. Development of schematic and wiring diagrams. Gather existing site data. Assist in field data collection. Lighting layout (interior, exterior, and egress/exit). Edit schedules (motor control centers, panel boards, lighting fixtures). Review of shop drawings for dimensions, conduit entry and other layout information. QUALIFICATIONS Required 0-3 years drafting/design experience, preferably in AutoCAD and Revit, in a consulting and/or construction capacity. Experience working in Autodesk Revit for electrical design and coordinating with other disciplines in Revit. Ability to perform 3D modeling of electrical equipment. Represent the company in a professional matter. Proficient in use of MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others. Knowledge of computer technology and specific areas of application . Preferred AAS Degree or Diploma in Design/Drafting is preferred. Knowledge of SKM Power Tools for Windows, ETAP or Easy Power modeling software. Experience working within industrial or plant environments. Electrical design experience. Working experience with Revit. Working Conditions Some work locations will feature the tough terrain typical of construction sites or require lifting or moving field testing equipment.
