Job Description

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic for the position of Manager, Upstream Operations. As the Manager, you will have the opportunity to be responsible for the Upstream Operations team and deliver on customer commitments in a world-class manufacturing environment. Join our team in St. Louis and contribute to making a real-world impact by helping customers find cures for cancer, protecting the environment, and ensuring food safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Successfully lead departmental manufacturing resources to meet safety, quality, efficiency, and regulatory standards

  • Conduct a variety of functions related to Upstream batch record review, preventive maintenance execution, production material support and production space cleaning.

  • Collaborate with peers within and outside of the department to drive performance management, talent development, and company goals

  • Maintain open communication and assure supervisory files are kept up to date

  • Lead a culture of compliance regarding safety, environmental, and quality standards

  • Serve as a leader on departmental and site teams to improve processes, solve problems, and implement projects

  • Conduct hiring, training, and staff evaluations to develop a highly respected and engaged team

  • Exude optimism, support company direction, and be a representative for Manufacturing on site

Requirements:

  • Equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree is welcomed.

  • 5-7 years of proven experience in a cGMP environment

  • 3-7 years of management experience with a focus on continuous improvement and quality

  • Strong understanding of production processes, cGMP, and cleanroom operations

  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills

  • Mechanical and technical proficiency

  • Proficiency in oral and written communication and Microsoft Office tools

  • Ability to stand for 80% of shift and lift a minimum of 25 lbs independently
