JOB SUMMARY

In conjunction with the Sales Team & the Director of Sales & Marketing, this position is responsible for maximising rooms / F&B / Conference and Banqueting business from a defined account base as well as proactively uncovering new prospects for the Hotel, and maximizing conversion of business in line with the Hotel’s budgetary goals.

Working within the Sales team, this position has responsibility for responding to all Group enquiries in order to maximize revenue & utilization of meeting space, working to ensure, at a minimum, delivery of budgeted revenues. The Group Sales Manager will manage and convert all business, including contracting, prior to hand over to the Event Planning team, in addition to managing group room and function diary inventory. The Group Sales Manager must demonstrate high energy levels & provide consistently high levels of customer service, in accordance with Marriott International Programmes.

This position requires a high degree of self-motivation and the ability to work unsupervised using own initiative. Candidate must be willing to travel regularly to represent The Westin Dragonara Resort at trade shows, fairs and sales trips as required.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in hotel sales/events environment is required.

  • Superior analytical skills required.

  • In possession of a Degree from the University of Malta, Institute of Tourism Studies or equivalent

  • Fluency in English language both written and verbal. Fluency in other languages is a plus.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills together with great attention to detail

  • Excellent knowledge of Opera Sales & Catering, Microsoft Office applications and other sales tools

  • Travel Industry experience a plus.
