Overview The Coborn's Inc. payroll team is hiring for a Payroll Manager! To be successful in this role, you will need to bring your "Say Yes to the Guest" attitude, as you will support over 10,000 of our internal guests, our employees! As the Coborn's Payroll Manager, you will manage and oversee the overall operations and compliance of our complex multi-state payroll department. You and your team will partner with the HR and Accounting teams to ensure employees are paid on time and accurately while following state and federal regulations. Requirements As the Payroll Manager, you will also, Lead and manage the day-to-day activities that support the bi-weekly payroll process and other special payroll requests such as bonus payments and manual checks. This includes ensuring time records are approved, accurate calculation of wages and processing of tax withholding and company deductions, printing paychecks and vouchers, and posting time and payroll to the general ledger. Ensure that pay is processed on time, and accurately, and complies with government regulations. Provide direct supervision to the payroll team on the day-to-day performance of their job. Develop a culture that engages employees, and builds team spirit and morale through recognition, development, accountability, coaching for talent development, and urgency. Provide recommendations on hiring activities, compensation changes, promotions, corrective action, and termination decisions. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory payroll reporting requirements and guidelines and all related internal policies, procedures, and internal controls. This includes but is not limited to maintaining and administering quarterly wage reporting of 941s, W-2s, state withholding, and unemployment insurance tax and leading and managing all payroll year-end processes. Serve as the company's subject matter expert for all areas of payroll operations and a primary point of contact for payroll escalations. Provide problem-solving assistance, payroll guidance with training and support, resolution of errors, and timely responses to inquiries. Partner with the Accounting leadership team to ensure reconciliation of the payroll system with the accounting system and various payroll and benefit general ledger accounts. Maintained, processed, and submitted various payroll reports, benefit files, payment, funding, and wire requests, and processed imputed income entries for fringe benefits. Will also conduct internal data audits, support external audits, and provide ad-hoc p yroll-related reports as requested for business needs. Maintain payroll system according to government regulations and company procedures for all areas of payroll, including but not limited to tax tables, earnings codes, deduction codes, direct deposit settings, etc. Collaborate with Human Resources and Information Technology teams to review the effectiveness of system requirements and processes, support system upgrades and associated testing, and partner to implement new solutions that ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Document and maintain all payroll operations standard operating procedures. Continually evaluate and analyze existing payroll processes, policies, procedures, systems, and associated workflows; recommend and implement changes and/or quality control measures leading to operational effectiveness and efficiency.
