Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, mission-oriented Senior SQL Database Administrator (DBA) , in the Springfield, Virginia area to provide unparalleled support to our customer and to begin an exciting and rewarding career within ManTech. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

As a Senior SQL DBA, the tasks will include designing, developing, and deploying database solutions to improve organizational knowledge sharing and awareness. Position is responsible for engineering new and maintaining current database solutions relevant to the environment.

  • Responsible for providing technical support for the day-to-day SQL Server activities of the organization, to include providing technical support for new projects, daily operations, and maintenance

  • Expected to work on complex assignments, perform a wide range of SQL Server database administration activities with little to no direct supervision

  • The selected candidate must possess familiarity with varied concepts, standard best business practices, procedures and be able to plan and execute tasks based on experience, judgement, and independent research

  • Design, troubleshoot and optimize SSRS or Power BI reports and dashboards to meet business needs

  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.

  • Assist developers with complex query development/tuning and schema design/refinement.

  • Routinely evaluates/implements improved methods or processes for administering and maintaining databases and servers.

  • Participate in design and architecture review of the databases and applications. Participate in these efforts and communicate with multiple teams to finalize optimal design for databases and applications.

  • Serve as escalation point for troubleshooting minor to major problems on an as-needed basis; often requiring time sensitive response and pro-active communication to different groups within the organization requirements

  • Contribute to the creation of processes, procedures and standards for SQL Server database administration that supports the use of optimal database server resources and performance to minimize potential downtime scenarios

  • Design, create, and maintain databases in a client/server environment

  • Provide technical support for the day-to-day SQL Server activities of the organization

  • Coordinate changes to SQL Server and SQL Server security patches and cumulative updates

  • Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard databases

  • Measure database performance and troubleshoot complex database issues

  • Implement database changes to improve performance and security

  • Configure and manage system and database user IDs and group permissions

  • Setup and manage database backups and recoveries

  • Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project

Basic Qualifications:

  • 7+ years' experience as a database administrator with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and newer

  • Ability to configure and monitor interfaces with other systems

  • Ability to configure and maintain system databases, user databases and server instances

  • Experience creating and maintaining schema, tables, views, functions, triggers and indexes

  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot AlwaysOn Availability Groups

  • Some experience with mirrored database replication is helpful

  • Be efficient at T-SQL and batch scripting

  • Experience installing/sizing/configuring SQL databases associated with COTS products

  • Experience using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)

  • Review procedures in database management system manuals for making changes to database

  • Must be able to communicate in a clear, concise, professional manner, to be understood by customers, clients, co-workers and other employees of the organization; both verbal and written

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

  • Must be able to learn and apply technical and procedural information systematically and conscientiously

  • Must be able to demonstrate capability to learn new technical concepts and to adapt to new technologies quickly

  • Self-motivated and possess the ability to apply various methods and techniques to query and process moderately complex data structures

  • Must possess 1 or more of the following certifications: Security+, Network+, OR other IAT Level II certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) or Power BI Server, including report design and creation

  • Helpful if candidate has Application Development background

  • Understanding of Microsoft Hyper-V – Virtual Machine Manager (VMM)

  • Experience being a Database Developer

  • Experience using a third-party database monitoring tool such as Quest Foglight or SolarWinds

  • Familiarity with DISA STIGs

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Must possess an active Top Secret (TS) clearance with Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (SCI) Eligibility

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
