25% Under general direction serves as a Server Application Administrator, for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT):
- Applies and/or adapts new methods to meet changing or new situations for non-routine work.
- Interprets data and/or procedural applications to address problems and situations that are not clearly defined.
- Performs installation, systems configurations, systems monitoring, testing, and implementation of software, hardware, and operating systems in accordance with agency requirements and Information Technology policy.
- Reviews and evaluates customer requests.
- Develops solutions to satisfy customer needs and to ensure requests meet standards and procedures and recommends hardware and software products for applications.
- Documents installation and enhancements.
- Maintains and coordinates software and servers with the clients.
25% Provides technical assistance to clients and technicians pertaining to hardware, software, and operating systems:
- Conducts reviews of hardware, software, components, and processes making written recommendations for modifications to provide availability, flexibility, and usability for the clients.
- Reviews, creates, or modifies current configurations, tables, and programs.
- Maintains established security processes.
- Researches, plans, installs, implements, configures, tests, documents, maintains, communicates, and monitors software, servers, and systems.
- Develops interface functions between monitoring systems, software, hardware, servers, and operating systems of specified platforms.
- Produces systems availability reports.
- Develops and implements service and service monitoring metrics.
20% Performs problem diagnostic of hardware, software, and operating system problems regarding systems and service monitoring:
- Evaluates and resolves problems when notified by recognized processes, clients, or technicians.
- Resolves basic hardware and software problems.
- Performs in the diagnosis and resolution of system software problems referring the more complex problems to higher level staff.
- Confers with vendors to resolve software and hardware problems.
- Serves as liaison between agency customers, management, and technicians for resolution of customer requirements.
- Monitors trouble tickets to ensure acceptable service levels to agencies within listed time frames are being met.
- Escalates time sensitive trouble calls to senior staff and/or appropriate vendor for faster resolution time.
- Responds to calls regarding emergency issues.
15% Participates on projects as a team member and serves as project coordinator for standard projects including small/medium size hardware/software installations and deployments:
- Determines and coordinates project components such as project scheduling and assignments.
- Assigns and reviews the work of project analyst staff.
- Provides expertise, guidance, and direction to staff.
- Reviews results and incorporates individual components of project into the final products.
10% Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology (IT) field:
- Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on IT products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
- Attends demonstrations and exhibitions related to assigned operations.
5% Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above
