Job description

As an employee and manager communications strategist, you will play a pivotal role in bringing HP's story to life for employees and leaders with a focus on inspiring and engaging employees in new ways. You will help shape and drive programs designed to foster a deep understanding of HP's strategic vision. You will be an advocate for HP employees, and will serve as a steward of HP's business, brand, and culture. Your role will encompass a multifaceted approach to employee engagement, utilizing various communication channels to effectively convey the narrative and instill a sense of connection among employees.

This employee and manager communications strategist will support the Employee Communications team, which is part of the Corporate Affairs function. Employee Communications helps HP's 55,000 employees in more than 60 countries internalize our company's vision, mission, strategy, and business priorities. Our communications inspire employees to connect with and contribute to the HP Way, and to feel pride in the products they help create and deliver to our customers. We aim to shape, validate, and deliver integrated experiences that activate employees as our boldest brand leaders and ambassadors-ultimately driving business success.

Key areas of responsibility

  • Develop creative manager and employee-facing content - including emails, presentations, video, and more -to drive alignment with our strategy, improve productivity, and nurture our culture.

  • Seek out and use insights into manager and employee attitudes, perceptions, and behaviors to shape experience design and communications strategy.

  • Mine for employee stories across our key markets and identify ways to amplify through our employee communications.

  • Help drive content and logistics for our All-Employee Meeting (AEM) and Senior Leadership Team Huddles (SLTH).

  • Support manager communications, including our Manager Central resource (monthly checklist and toolkit, intranet site).

  • Stay agile and pivot quickly, when needed.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to achieve Employee Communications team goals.

  • Track and report on measurements of success such as web traffic, readership measures, pulse surveys, company meeting surveys, etc.; share insights, lessons, and best practices with other experience and communication colleagues across HP.

Reporting and management line

This role is an individual contributor, reporting to the Employee and Manager Engagement Lead.

Qualifications

With a bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or marketing, or equivalent experience, and a minimum of 2-3 years of content development experience, this individual demonstrates:

  • Passion for communications and the overall employee experience.

  • Experience with leader and people manager communications.

  • Courage to contribute ideas and take initiative toward shared goals.

  • An understanding of best practices for employee communications.

  • An ability to write and edit in a variety of styles and formats in a way that is engaging, clear, accurate, and actionable.

  • Comfort with digital communication channels, including email, websites, presentations, social media, online meetings, and video.

  • Experience building and editing PowerPoint slides.

  • Strong prioritization, project management and time management skills.

  • Keen attention to detail.

  • Effectiveness at working in a complex, cross-functional, team-based environment with stakeholders and influencers across different levels and areas of responsibility.

  • Ability to work under pressure and on tight deadlines.

  • Business acumen and understanding of global public technology companies.

  • Willing to learn something new every day.

  • A desire to bring creativity, curiosity, and innovative thinking to everything they do.

  • Flexibility, a sense of humor, and adaptability to change.
