Eaton Corporation Product Design Engineer - Terminals/Connectors in Southfield, Michigan

Eaton’s IS VEH Power Connections division is currently seeking a Product Design Engineer - Terminals/Connectors. This position is based at our Southfield, MI facility and offers a hybrid working schedule.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $65250.0 - $95700.0 a year.

What you’ll do:

Position Overview: The Product Design Engineer (Connectors & Terminals) will contribute to a team of engineers and technicians, responsible for the development of innovative automotive terminal/connector product and process solutions to solve customer connectivity pain points and market demands. In this role, you will setup and lead critical product engineering processes to develop new high and low voltage automotive terminal product / process solutions, including plastic cavity design, development, validation and release documents.

Responsibilities

  • You will be a part of a highly engaged and high performing product development team aligned to achieve the following strategic initiatives: improved efficiency, equipment utilization, data acquisition, safety systems, and overall improved product performance and capability.

  • You will help lead terminal and connector development alongside a team of innovating engineering business partners to solve design, mechanical, electrical, and other product, equipment or process related problems.

  • You will help lead terminal and cavity development through our collaborative product design culture. You will integrate with terminal and connector engineering, promote a collaborative environment with your team, peers, and manufacturing.

  • You will interface with key stakeholders in program management and quality to ensure the completion of the engineering teams assigned tasks on time.

  • You will proactively maintain a safe working environment, through diligence in accident prevention, equipment maintenance, and Zero Incident culture enforcement.

  • You will be responsible for the DFMEA, tolerance stack-up analysis, DVP and APQP requirements for the terminal products in the Innovation engineering department.

  • You will receive regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to executive management. Continually assess the career goals and development plan management will create for you.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution

  • One (1+) or more years of experience in an automotive design engineering role (internship & co-op experience will count towards this requirement)

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future

  • Must currently reside within a 50-mile radius of the working location (Southfield, MI) to be considered for this position. Active-duty Military are exempt from this requirement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited institution

  • Three (3) years' experience working in an automotive terminal or connector design and development team

  • Knowledge or experience in failure mode analysis and driving development using tolerance analysis and CAE simulation

  • Familiarity w/ automotive specifications like USCAR-2, USCAR-25, USCAR-37, USCAR-38, as well as other standards like DIN, ISO IEC, UL, etc.

  • Experience working with CAD software to create innovative, automotive terminal systems (preferably NX or Solidworks)
