We are seeking a (Sr.) Manufacturing Supervisor to lead one of our operations department. Janssen Biologics in Leiden is a multinational pharmaceutical company that has been 30 years a leader in the field of biomedicines. About the role

The (Sr.) Manufacturing Supervisor will be leading the shift organization of the Primary Recovery department of one of the shift teams (16/7), where we produce intermediate product for the great products that we make. The group consists of approximately 15-20 employees working in shift. The activities are very dynamic and varied. The preferred candidate loves challenges, doesn’t avoid problems, makes decisions and enjoys working in teams.

Responsibilities that YOU have:

The duties of the (Senior) Supervisor include:

  • As a people manager you are responsible for supporting the personal development of your team and ensuring the optimal functioning of your team. You provide the right resources within your team; you align the goals (“G&O”) with the department cascade and you conduct frequent 1:1’s as well as the 5 conversations throughout the year.

  • Responsible for achieving production targets by managing operational aspects of their team (e.g., workflow, performance, and compliance), as well as ensuring achievement of team goals within expected standards.

  • Ensure a safe and compliant working environment and adequately follow up when improvements are needed.

  • Adheres to standard operating procedures to support tasks and team needs related to the processing of ingredients and/or pharmaceutical (new) products.

  • Proactively identify potential issues before they become significant problems and take necessary actions to mitigate risks and ensure operational effectiveness.

  • Documents day-to-day activities and resources and raises any concerns or issues to leaders to enhance successful business results.

  • Cultivate a LEAN culture through Root Cause Problem Solving, manage Tier 1, and address performance issues.

  • Conduct spot checks on standardized work, observe shopfloor behavior, and sign pitch chart visuals.

  • Perform Gemba walks, observe processes, and confirm their effectiveness.

  • Bachelor degree in relevant subjects, e.g. bioprocessing technology or process engineering.

  • Maintain a positive attitude that influences team morale and productivity.

  • You have leadership skills and a natural interest in people.

  • As a people manager you can motivate and convince people. Demonstrate effective change leadership.

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal in English (required) and Dutch (pre).

  • High quality awareness and experience/affinity with EHS&S and cGMP standards.

  • You are enthusiastic, independent and innovative (be able to think creatively), stress resistant (be able to deal with pressure, fast changes) and you can transfer this to your team.

  • Ability to work on a shift roster
