DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This is an entry-level position focused on human resources within the Department of Human Services. As a Human Resource Assistant 1, you will manage and perform all civil service duties within the department which includes coordinating the hiring process for all DHS positions, ensuring employee personnel files are up-to-date and in compliance with civil service laws and agency policies, and coordinating new employee orientation and ongoing professional development for all staff. You will also process all wages, promotions, and raises, and participate in recruitment and retention efforts such as conducting internal interviews, wellness programs, and participating in committee planning. The successful candidate will work closely with HR and DHS staff to ensure compliance with county policy, union contracts, and all applicable labor laws while promoting a safe work environment.
Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of clerical or other comparable experience which involved obtaining, providing, and evaluating information in accordance with established standards; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Legal Requirements: A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
