Discover Impactful Work:

A day in the Life:

  • Work with chemistry leader to co-lead the formulation scale-up workstream of a new generation of microarray manufacturing technology.

  • Qualify chemical component suppliers and engage with internal/external partners for formulation scale-up.

  • Work with multiple teams to develop, transfer, improve and implement new chemistry and relevant processes, and relevant IQA, IPQC and OQC tests.

  • Conduct DOE for new process/product/QC test R&D verification and validation.

  • Collaborate with partners, scientists and engineers to clearly define the requirements, specification that are needed to craft and develop the next generation microarray chemistry.

  • Supervise junior chemists to perform experiments requiring a high degree of technical understanding in one or more of the following R&D areas: polymer chemistry, analytical chemistry, and surface chemistry.

  • Work with development teams & lead to craft experimental plans, perform studies and analyze and communicate results and their impact on the project through written reports, presentations and interactive discussions.

  • Plan schedule and provide guidance on preventive maintenance and basic fixing of R&D tools and test equipment, and ensure they are accurately calibrated

How will you get here?

Education

Master or PhD degree in chemistry or materials science, international training is plus.

Experience

MS holder requires at least 5 years and PhD holder requires at least 3 years of relevant industry/academic experience; solid knowledge in process chemistry and experience in industrial R&D or PD are highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Shown leadership experience in working with scale-up facilities (e.g. 5-20 L reactor, filtration) or pilot plant.

  • Expert in chemical supplier qualification and teamwork.

  • Experience in chemical analytical methods, such as NMR, IR, GC-FID/ECD/MS, HPLC, LC-MS, Karl-Fischer Titration etc.

  • Proven track record to identify and provide solutions to sophisticated problems and familiar with methods & tools as Design of Experiment (DOE), root-cause analysis (RCA), failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA), etc.

  • Strong problem-solver with a hands-on personality and a passion for science and technology innovations as evidenced by academic publications, patent & invention disclosures, commercialized products.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects is required.

  • Applicants should convey strong verbal and written communication skills and work collaboratively in teams.

  • Ability to work independently and with multi-functional teams from all levels across the organization.

  • Self-motivated executer, initiator and agile learner.
