Summary

Under the direction of the Rewards Team Director performs a variety of responsible professional, technical and analytical compensation activities. As a Compensation & HRIS Analyst, you will play a critical role in managing and maintaining the company's compensation structure and HRIS system. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of compensation plans, conducting data analysis, and providing analytical support to the HR team.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Reviews new jobs in anticipation of recruitment to ensure appropriate classification. Based on role-specific information, determines if an existing description can be used for classification. As necessary, modifies and creates new descriptions which accurately reflect current roles, responsibilities, and requirements.

  • Working within Workday systems and procedures, ensures all aspects of job creation are addressed in a timely manner i.e. creation and assigning of compensation grades, bid code assignments, referral plan assignments, posting of new and revised descriptions, etc.

  • Provides technical support and training to Workday end-users for Tier-1 issues

  • Collaborates and acts as a liaison between Compensation, the overall People & Culture team, and Digital Business Technology (DBT) to maintain, update, and test Workday. Will provide support in the implementation and testing of new releases or modules as necessary.

  • Conducts “penny discrepancy” audit with payroll to ensure accurate rounding of hourly pay by two decimals every pay period.

  • Conducts semi-annual minimum wage audit to ensure AeroVironment is compliant

  • Partners with Compliance Analyst to report on AAP, EEO-1, VETs, and OFCCP audits.

  • Develops and documents procedures to streamline processes and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Generates custom reports, administers HR metrics and provides analytical support and data analysis on projects.

  • Reviews compensation Workday system transactions and processes based on standards.

  • Provides data entry support and data integrity audits.

  • Reviews employees’ request for classification review and makes classification/pay level determinations. This includes reviewing job questionnaires, conferring with managers and employees, evaluating jobs and preparing written reports on findings. Communicates with stakeholders regarding the result of compensation work.

  • Uses published or conducts ad hoc surveys to obtain and analyze market pay rates. Makes recommendations on appropriate pay grade level. Reviews recommendations for internal equity. Prepares reports on findings and handles administrative steps to formalize recommendations.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):

  • BA/BS degree in Human Resources, Business, Computer Science or other discipline directly related to the position or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a backend user of HRIS (ie Workday preferred, Oracle, PeopleSoft, etcc) and as a compensation analyst

Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies:

Knowledge of:

  • Extensive knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.

  • Extensive knowledge of human resource laws, regulations and best practices.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Skill in:

  • Conducting studies and preparing sound recommendations

  • Analyzing and interpreting policies, practices, and procedures

  • Preparing written reports for varied audiences

  • Maintaining confidentiality

  • Conducting research, analyzing information and data and presenting findings in a concise format

  • Utilizing computer technology used for communication, data gathering and reporting

  • Building a rapport with managers in conducting job reviews

Ability to:

  • Effectively communicate both in writing and verbally

  • Handle sensitive and confidential matters and situations

  • Understand and follow broad and complex instructions

  • Work with diverse populations, both internally and externally

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work in an office environment (Constant)

  • Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)

  • U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) or asylee/refugee status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) required.

  • O ccasionally may be required to travel within the Continental U.S.
