Sheppard Air Force Base - Support Squadron RECREATION AID (COMMUNITY PROGRAMS) in Sheppard Afb, Texas

This is a FLEXIBLE positionlocated at the Community Center (Commons) on Sheppard AFB, TX

DUTIES Assists with day-to-day operation and maintenance of facilities and equipment. Shelves books, magazines and other materials in proper order and location. Monitors activities within facilities and assists in maintaining order. Records attendance. Assists with set-up and breakdown of equipment for events and activities. Assists with group activities within several different facilities. Posts announcements of scheduled activities. Answers questions pertaining to events, programs, classes, and activities. Checks out equipment to customers and verifies condition upon return. Performs minor maintenance and proper cleaning of equipment and facilities. Assist customers in all aspects of Community Programs and Resource Center business to include locating required information, registering for classes and activities, reserving facilities for private functions, meetings, etc. Performs routine clerical tasks such as answering the telephone, taking messages, and referring callers or visitors to the appropriate staff member. Collects fees, makes change. Completes appropriate administrative documents. Assists in implementing programs. May be required to open and close facilities. Assist with a variety of tournaments to include billiards, ping pong, dominos, spades, etc. Documents and/or reports equipment, facility and program problems and issues to supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to read, write and speak English. Ability to demonstrate practical knowledge of recreational activities, rules, procedures, and equipment. Ability to resolve common mathematical problems and make change when receiving payments from customers. Ability to demonstrate experience or knowledge which provides a general procedure followed in leisure, recreational, and group programs. Work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; recurring activities such as bending and stooping; pushing and pulling carts; and lifting. Must possess skill in dealing with public and have the ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Must be able to work rotating shifts and uncommon tour of duty. Subject to satisfactory completion pre-employment physical Subject to satisfactory completion of National Agency Check (TIER 1).
