[[GENERAL SUMMARY The Buyer is responsible for purchasing raw components of the highest quality while obtaining the most competitive prices in the timeframe needed. General Vendor communications and multiple sourcing are also a part of this position.

  • Responsible for determining component needs through Forecasting, Purchase Requisitions, as well as other department's requests.
  • Submits Purchase Orders based on determined needs.
  • Conducts bid proposals to evaluate pricing from multiple vendors to determine the most suitable vendor based on price, quality, delivery, etc.
  • Communication with Engineering on technical components.
  • Communication with the Finance Department in regard to the paperwork of incoming components.
  • Coordinates component transitions with the Engineering and Inventory Departments.
  • Track cost savings and increases on components and communicate those with Executive Management.
  • Research alternate suppliers and assist Engineering in coordinating testing and approval of components.
  • Responsible for reporting on inventory levels, on-time delivery, etc. of vendors.
  • Responsible for day-to-day communications with vendors.
  • Coordinates with Quality Control Dept on vendor quality issues and corrective action plans.
  • Coordinates with Receiving Dept on vendor shipments.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.

[[EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE]{calibri=""}]{new="" roman="" times=""}

  • Minimum Associates Degree in Business Administration or related field, or at least 5 years relevant experience as a buyer or related title, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Purchasing, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of Purchasing experience, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Purchasing and/or supply chain certification(s) would be a plus.

Excellent communication skills with external and internal contacts.

Basic understanding of inventory control procedures.
