    Position Summary:

    The Cardiopulmonary Supervisor is responsible for direct patient care and the supervision of the department and employees on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

Position Accountabilities and Performance Criteria:

+ + Demonstrates superior skills in performing all Position Accountabilities and Performance Criteria for a registered respiratory therapist.

  • Assures quality and diversity of Cardio Pulmonary Services with guidance from the Medical Director and Department leader. Develop and implement clinical policy and procedure as related to protocols and pathways established at LeConte Medical Center.

  • Responsible for ensuring competencies and appropriate delivery of care according to the age specific needs of the entire life span for all Cardio Pulmonary personnel.

  • Assist Department Leader with supervision of all personnel in the Cardio Pulmonary Department:

  • Interviewing / hiring / termination of personnel

  • Completing departmental orientation

  • Disciplinary actions as necessary

  • Annual performance appraisals / goal settings

  • Completing annual skills checklists

  • Cross training of staff to ensure adequate staffing in both Cardiac and Respiratory services.

  • Assists Department Leader in:

  • Preparation of capital and operating budgets and meeting approve budgetary guidelines.

  • Strategic planning process for new equipment / services / increased market share / community education.

  • Monitor and maintain departmental compliance to meet all regulatory (Covenant / state / federal / the Joint Commission) requirements

  • Specific areas of responsibility:

  • Schedule equipment PM’s and repairs

  • Review and processing of payroll.

  • Approve department specific invoices for payment

  • Responsible for administrative call as needed.

  • Staffing of the department on all shifts for illness, vacations, etc.

  • Documentation of required hospital / professional education.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Minimum Experience:

A minimum of three (3) years' clinical experience, including one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Licensure Requirement:

Must have and maintain current RN, PT, Exercise Physiologist, or licensed in the State of Tennessee as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with ABG endorsement. If holds the RRT, must have a valid RRT credential by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
