Educators Resource Warehouse Supervisor in Semmes, Alabama

As an essential member of the Production leadership team, a Supervisor at Educators Resource is responsible for inspiring and motivating their team to achieve daily efficiency targets by motivating their team and uncovering process improvements to ensure incentive targets are achieved. You will work closely with the training supervisor and fulfillment operations manager to acquire and develop talent and optimize your teams performance and execute to our technical standards. Reports to: Fulfillment Operations Manager

Shift: Day - Monday - Friday - Weekend as needed

Essential Functions of the Role

Duties and Responsibilities

Leads the team to quickly, efficiently, and safely perform fulfillment tasks associated with moving goods, materials, and information throughout the warehouse.

  • Establish and/or communicate individual and team productivity goals. Monitor performance throughout the shift, week, etc. Proactively monitor and evaluate using established indicators. Report metrics to senior leadership to enable strategic planning.
  • Partner with the Operations Control Team to complete the orders. (Production Control is focused on customer orders and their specifics, the Warehouse Supervisor is focused on expediting the work by managing the team).
  • Delegate work assignments to the appropriate team member(s) and ensuring successful completion based on established standards.
  • Ensure, through leading the team, the processing of same-day expedited orders as determined by Operations Control.
  • Lead the team in a manner that promotes individual performance excellence by evaluating performance gaps, recommending training stretch projects, and other development activities.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement through the practice of Lean Principals.
  • Manage performance and behavior by coaching and counseling as needed.
  • Use various communication and leadership styles (situational leadership) to motivate and encourage.
  • Welcome new team members and coordinate training activities in partnership with the Training Continuously improve operations by removing obstacles to team and individual success.
  • Ensure team members follow safety programs, participate in safety training, and follow incident reporting guidelines.
Qualifications

  • High school diploma and 3-5 years relevant experience.
  • Associates degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a team and individual performance.
  • Experience in a production environment.

  • Above average technical skills. Experience using MS Word, Excel. Experience with warehouse management software is a plus.
  • Able to learn new skills quickly and help others to do the same; embraces change.
  • Excellent oral communication and listening skills; clarifies to ensure understanding.
  • Above average written communication skills. Experience in documentation and writing performance reviews.
