Amazon Technical Program Manager, Decom Program Management in Seattle, Washington

Description

AWS Global Infrastructure is looking for an experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) who is a passionate advocate of process excellence. This TPM will design and build operational processes, define software requirements, establish analytical reports and lead cross-functional teams to develop and deploy comprehensive equipment end of life solutions across AWS’s global footprint.

This Technical Program Manager will deliver and optimize workflows and metrics that ensure all intellectual property and storage devices are managed in accordance with Security Policy and in compliance with Environmental and Legal across all work streams. The role will work within the data center operations organization, measuring and reporting on performance execution while leading projects and solving technical problems aimed to deliver safe, secure, compliant and efficient processes that reduce risk and enable scale.

The candidate is expected to partner with Product Owners, Hardware Engineering, Security, Field Operations, Software and Data Analytics teams; reporting status to the leadership team. A successful candidate is customer oriented and has experience with process design, project planning, stakeholder management, communications management, schedule management and data analysis. The candidate must independently identify and produce metrics that can be used to measure success and report on progress at both the operational and the leadership levels of the organization. The successful candidate has experience in operations, document development and technical program management across time zones and has managed several large scale projects.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Key job responsibilities

The ideal candidate is customer obsessed, innovative, independent and results-oriented. As a TPM, you will

  • Work with key stakeholders across multiple organizations to define strategy and requirements.

  • Be responsible for scoping and delivering end-to-end software, analytics and technical solutions that span multiple technology teams.

  • Establish and manage operational metrics and provide written and verbal updates to leadership.

  • Innovate process and tool features on behalf of our customers.

  • Provide process expertise to field customers in order to resolve challenges and blockers.

  • Collaborate with product managers, software development teams, hardware development teams, and global process owners to architect and deliver technical solutions.

Your job requires a high degree of judgement, the ability to negotiate and influence delivery across teams, and excellent communication skills.

About the team

The Decom Program Management team aims to ensure the safety of technicians, the security of customer data and the availability of the network through the deployment software tools, procedures and training. We deliver scalable workflows, mechanisms and metrics to our customers that enable the safe, secure and productive decommissioning of racks and the handling and destruction of media devices. We will innovate to remove human decision making from all of our processes, replacing these with mechanisms and we will find new ways to deliver capacity while never constraining the business.
