Technical Artist, Electronic Arts, Inc., Seattle, WA. Create and implement technical animation for various environments in the video game. Optimize animations to meet performance requirements across a wide range of mobile devices. Solve animation and rigging related bugs in the game and implement new workflow solutions. Provide deskside support to troubleshoot, diagnose, and fix technical issues. Address bugs that occur in the game. Act as a bridge for communication between the Art team and the Engineers translating the needs of each and finding the best way to optimize best working practices. Create and maintain export tools and plugins used by the Art team for optimized workflows. Identify new tools and workflows to implement increasing efficiency for the team. Identify workflow improvements in the Unreal Engine and coordinate with the Engineering Team to provide solutions. Create additional bespoke workflow tools for the Art team as required. Create Rigs for characters and implement solutions for integration into unreal editor game engine. Optimize default Rig for easier repeated use and scalability. Verify characters are implemented correctly in the video game and that all abilities work. Provide documentation for Character and Art, workflow and processes. Telecommuting permitted. (E2-131699)

40 hrs/week, Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Salary Range From: $104,000 To $174,700/yr.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Animation, Interactive Media, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or in related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or in a technical artist-related occupation.

Position requires two (2) years of experience in each of the following skills:

  • Maya, Substance, and Photoshop;
  • Scripting in Python;
  • Cinematic and games production with at least one AAA title or mobile game;
  • Behavior graph, animation state machines, shader writing, static meshes, skeletal meshes, texture compression, and particle systems;
  • Unreal Engine; and
  • Rigging and skin weighting of characters and assets.
