We are looking for a dynamic, bright, and organized self-starter with a passion for talent management to join our team as a Senior Manager, Talent Partner supporting the AWS Global Sales (AGS) organization. This role is part of a fun and passionate global HR and business group and requires strong client management, partnership, and team collaboration across organizations. We are looking for a professional who has the ability to earn trust and influence senior leaders, think strategically about talent and the business in a matrixed organization, and diagnose issues, spot patterns, and develop solutions that de-risk and accelerates the business. This leader must possess an ability to assess and coach talent at an executive level in addition to being an effective manager of senior employees. The Senior Manager, Talent Partner is a skilled communicator and facilitator, with experience driving strategic people conversations with senior leaders. Finally, this leader must be strategic and a systems thinker, with the skills necessary to clearly define problem statements and iterate, launch and scale mechanisms that address them. They will demonstrate analytical capabilities and be able to influence business priorities with data-driven recommendations.

Key job responsibilities

The Senior Manager, AGS Talent Partner is the talent management partner to the leader of the AWS Global Sales organization. They lead executive talent management across our growing and global sales organization, working closely with HR to support the business leader in delivering on shared goals. Their primary responsibility is driving our talent management processes are launched, scaled, and improved upon globally. This includes leading comprehensive succession planning, critical role mapping, executive career development and talent movement, talent evaluation and capability building. In doing so, the Senior Manager, Talent Partner ensures our global sales leaders are consistently inspecting and assessing their organizational design, the strength of their leadership teams and succession plans, the depth of our leadership pipeline, their leadership capacity needs, and whether we have an optimal match between critical talent and critical roles. When opportunity to improve is identified, the Senior Manager, Talent Partner consults with relevant business leaders and then builds, iterates, and scales solutions to address.

The Senior Manager, Talent Partner will plan, coordinate, and facilitate on-going executive level talent conversations for the AWS Global Sales organization, working back from the needs of the business vis a vis our talent, driving buy in from HR Directors and the business leaders. The Senior Manager, Talent Partner not only runs the talent cadence, they are a consultant and thought partner with the HR Director and their VP(s) regarding critical talent, succession readiness, and development planning. They are responsible for establishing the mechanisms necessary to continue evolving our organizational design and effectiveness, including organizational health and leadership success profiles. This leader leads a global team of Talent Partners supporting sales organizations in the field.

This role sits on the AWS SMGS Executive Talent Management team and is matrixed into the AWS Global Sales PXT (HR) organization. The primary client for this role is the AWS Global Sales organization. The Senior Manager, Talent Partner is an influential partner to our HR Director and the VP, AWS Global Sales and their direct reports.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, data science, public administration, finance, engineering, human resources or related field

  • 10+ years progressive experience partnering with senior executives and managing the design, development, and delivery of executive development programs and products with demonstrated impact

  • Demonstrates business and HR acumen, including problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and analytical acuity.

  • Proficient in partnering effectively with senior leaders through skillful navigation of ambiguous situations using strategic planning and effective project management.

  • Communication, coaching and influencing skills across diverse counterparts, globally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business, Organizational Psychology, Human Resources Management or related field.

  • Executive Coaching certification (ICF Certification) or experience as HR Business Partner to senior executives.

  • Experience leading organizational design efforts to accelerate business growth.

  • Demonstrated agility in thriving within fast-paced and innovative environments.

  • Talent Management experience in technical sales organization

  • 3+ years of experience building and leading teams

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $121,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $225,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
