UW MEDICINE IT SERVICES has an outstanding job opportunity for a MANAGER, POPULATION HEALTH SOLUTIONS position.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • 100% FTE – 40 hours per week

  • Day Shift – UW MEDICINE ITS SERVICES CORE HOURS ARE 07:00 – 16:00 (PST), Monday-Friday POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • Provide leadership to a team of technical professionals within the UW Medicine Population Health, Data Integration, Digital Engagement, and Software Solutions department in IT Services.

  • The Population Health Solutions team is responsible for implementation, development, and maintenance of technology solutions to support UW Medicine's organizational Population Health, Value-Based Care, Regulatory, and Quality Improvement initiatives.

  • Managing of the Epic modules that support the above initiatives, including systems operations, processes, and design standards, oversight, and leadership of the team and budget lifecycle activities.

  • Managing internal and external customer relationships.

  • Working with vendors on issues and improvements for system function and stability.

  • Collaborating in the development of the Epic Population Health applications roadmap in partnership with other Epic applications teams and stakeholders.

  • Promoting the recruitment and retention of high performing professional staff, including, but not limited to, hiring, onboarding, transparent communication and constructive feedback, staff development, evaluation, performance management, motivation, and recognition. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION UW Medicine IT Services (ITS) is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), Valley Medical Center (VMC), UW Medicine Primary Care (UWMPC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You implement and sustain strong processes and capabilities through the enhancement, deployment, and maintenance of methods, metrics, tools, training, education, and communication.

  • You manage assigned budget(s) and resources.

  • You manage and sustain vendor/supplier relationships.

  • You maintain appropriate levels of service delivery to deliver and improve services for the enterprise.

  • You foster an IT Service Management culture.

  • You lead the design, development, implementation, and monitoring of EHR solutions (primarily Epic) to support operations and reporting of Inpatient and Outpatient regulatory and quality improvement initiatives, including but not limited to, the 21st Century CURES Act, ONC Certification, CMS Medicare Promoting Interoperability, electronic Clinical Quality Measures, MIPS/MACRA, commercial plan and Medicare shared savings programs, Value-based Care contracts, Magnet Hospital accreditation, Epic Gold Stars, Epic Honor Roll, and HIMSS Stage 7.

  • You manage, organize, and positively influence a team of professionals.

  • You instill UW Medicine and ITS vision and guiding principles to all staff, implementing mission-oriented HR practices.

  • You promote an environment that is attractive to the employee and that facilitates the recruitment and retention of professional, technical, and support staff, including, but not limited to, staff development, recognition, motivation, and communication.

  • You make hiring decisions and recommendations for separations, reclassification recommendations, salary adjustment recommendations, handle complaints and grievances, as well as generally planning, assigning, and approving the work of these positions. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent education and experience.

  • 6+ years of experience which should include the below.

  • 4+ years’ experience mentoring, leading, or managing technology and/or business professionals.

  • Demonstrated management and leadership capabilities with proven ability to influence in matrix environment.

  • Proven ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and provide guidance and leadership to staff.

  • 4+ years’ managing system vendor relationships.

  • 3+ years’ involvement with quality improvement processes.

  • 3+ years’ experience supervising in customer service-oriented organizations.

  • Healthcare industry experience.

  • Demonstrated IT project management experience.

  • Knowledge of all phases of software development lifecycle for vendor supplied software.

  • Strong working knowledge with PC desktop applications. The following are NOT required, but would be great to have:

  • Population Health/Quality Improvement/Value-Based Care leadership experience.

  • Master’s degree.

  • Epic Clinical Application (Healthy Planet, Ambulatory, Inpatient) and/or Epic Cogito certification. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This is an Information Technology deadline-driven work environment.

  • The individual in this position is expected to work normal daytime hours. The work may be performed in either an office environment or by telecommuting with manager approval, during normal business hours; however, significant off-hours and weekends may be needed to resolve problems and respond to emergencies. This individual is expected to be available for emergencies (business continuity/disaster recovery efforts) on a 24x7 basis as needed.

  • Must coordinate projects without direct supervisory authority.

  • Must work within the constraints of multiple technical environments.

  • The individual in this position must learn many organizational structures and cultures and continually foster collaboration.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
