Description Health Unit Coordinator - Surgery Support @ Swedish Cherry Hill Per Diem Variable Shift 12 Hour Shifts Responsible for performing general secretarial and clerical duties in the patient care areas. Interacts with patients, families and physicians and acts as a liaison among members of the health care team, patients and families. Assists the nursing staff in coordinating the activity of the unit. Oversees the orderliness of work areas and orders forms and other clerical supplies. Participates in all aspects of the nursing care process under the guidance of a registered nurse and within the scope of the nurse technician's academic education. Assists in implementation of nursing process to extent allowed by their academic education. Administers and documents basic nursing care including but not limited to, vital signs and observations of signs and symptoms, and reports any reactions or changes in condition to the supervising RN. Performs nursing procedures as assigned and as trained and validated by the approved nursing program and as delegated by the RN. Actively assists in evaluating / updating the patient's plan of care by reviewing subjective and objective data and accurately documenting the updates on the care plan. Updates the plan of care in collaboration with the RN and other team members. Documents accurately, promptly and appropriately according to hospital policy. Utilizes hospital electronic medical record systems as trained. Contributes to the assigned unit nursing team, functioning as a member of the unit. Effectively assists in the identification of educational and emotional needs of the patient and / or family. Protects patient and employee confidentiality by promoting professional staff communications. Maintain full knowledge of policy and practices related to confidentiality and HIPAA regulations. Willingly accepts projects and work assignments as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned, under the direct supervision of the RN and within scope of nursing technician practice as defined by WAC. Required Qualifications: 1 year Experience in related healthcare setting, completion of a Health Unit Coordinator program, or 3 months in a Swedish internship program. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience using electronic medical record. Why Join Providence?
