The AIS-SC Networking team is looking for a results-oriented individual to own supply management for Networking optics silicon. This individual will own the supply strategy and relationship with multiple silicon suppliers interact with engineering and PLM colleagues to ramp up new product platforms. Our Global Supply Managers are (or become) experts in their industries and help drive the explosive growth of AWS.

General Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute supply planning strategies to meet the category, department, project and customer needs

  • Prioritize activities and align with stakeholders to deliver supply globally with a high degree of predictability

  • Manage supplier relationships and allocation of material to demands based on priority

  • Be a subject matter expert for the customers, technologies, and markets in which you engage

  • Manage cross-functional projects against plans and objectives to meet commitments and goals

  • Identify and drive realization of opportunities for durable, relative advantage in your category

Key job responsibilities

  • Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify supply base opportunities to minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and utilize industry developments that benefit Amazon

  • Identify and pursue opportunities to leverage and consolidate the supply base using system level tools and techniques

  • Understand forecasting, demand planning, material/supply/inventory planning, and manufacturing processes/capacity to verify supply commitments

  • Manage supply buffers and allocation to shorten lead times and build resiliency into the supply chain without driving excess

  • Drive supplier improvement initiatives to continually lower risk and reduce lead times

  • Influence suppliers' manufacturing processes, technology decisions, and policies in ways that are mutually beneficial and sustainable for both organizations

  • Create and send monthly forecasts, and measure supplier commitments against demand

A day in the life

As a Global Supply Manager, you will be part of a three-pillar category team (Sourcing, Supply Chain, PLM) that will own end-to-end management of a specific category of networking hardware. You will participate in technical engineering reviews, collaborate on inventory and supply strategies, advise on supply chain objectives. Your role is fundamental to optimal product management of cloud networking hardware. You will develop deep and practical knowledge of the hardware you manage as well as its application in the AWS network.

You will join a team of highly capable and driven sourcing and supply chain managers who have experience from inside and outside the tech/networking industry. We are continually diving deeper into the supply chain and product design with our engineering, component and ODM partners. Although we have a ways to go, we have a heavy focus on automation and tools creation. Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or an advanced degree in supply chain, business, product or program management, manufacturing, engineering, finance or related technical or quantitative field, or additional 6+ Years work experience in product management, supply chain, or sourcing of hardware in lieu of a degree

  • 4+ years of experience in product or program management (hardware), BOM management, hardware qualification, collaboration with engineering on product design, product launch, electronics manufacturing

  • 2+ years of experience with product or program management methodologies (ie. Critical Path, Agile) as well as data analysis tools such as Excel, Pivot Tables, SQL, Tableau, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced degree in engineering or other quantitative disciplines

  • 4+ years of experience in product or program management of networking hardware or related electronics, electronic components, contract manufacturing (CM), original design manufacture (ODM) of networking equipment, personal computers, or servers

  • Broad supply chain experience, such as new product introduction, hardware and software qualification

  • Strong proficiency in analysis tools including Microsoft Excel, SQL, Tableau

  • Excellent creative thinking skills with emphasis on developing innovative solutions to solve complex problems that may not have one clear answer

  • Demonstrated ability to influence at the executive level internally and with suppliers

  • Experience leading negotiations for complex, mission critical technology

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $71,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $153,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
