Title: Exercise Physiologist Job Class: Non-Exempt/Hourly $31.25 - $37.50/hour DOE PI: Dr. Laura Feemster At the Seattle Institute for Biomedical and Clinical Research (SIBCR), scientists seek new ways to improve the health and well-being of Veterans through research and education conducted at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System and Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center. Summary: The Exercise physiologist will work as a key team member on the Functional improvement in OSA and COPD with a Telehealth LifeStyle and Exercise Intervention (FOCuSEd) Study sponsored by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). This position is a pulmonary study based at the VA Puget Sound Medical Center and will require an individual who understands the principles of clinical trials and is able to adhere to providing an exercise regimen according to the study protocol. The position is full-time. Salary will be based according to the applicant's research experience and includes benefits. Responsibilities: Customizes individual exercise programs for patients Monitors the programs to ensure patient safety, effectiveness and compliance with all regulatory agencies Assesses patients by reviewing medical records/ history to properly administer the correct exercise program Consults with patients to determine their exercise goals and objectives. Monitors progress and provides feedback/coaching as needed Demonstrates exercises to patient to ensure proper form, technique and safety Maintain paper- and electronic data capture forms and study files Maintain compliance with applicable IRB, human subjects, all training and data security guidelines and regulations Assist in the preparation and distribution of applications, reports, meeting agendas and notes Other duties as assigned Required Knowledge and Experience: BA/BS in exercise physiology or a related field. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement Current BLS certification or ability to be certified within the next 3 months Outstanding organizational and communication skills Keen attention to detail Ability to work in a collaborative team environment Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access Preferred Knowledge and Experience With: Electronic medical record systems Electronic data capture systems, e.g., REDCap, Qualtrics Current Certification by the American College of Sports Medicine or the American Society for Exercise physiologists ACLS certification Learn more about: Center of Innovation: How to apply: Please complete online application and upload a cover letter and resume.
