Blue Origin LLC Electrical System Design Engineer III - Avionics Lab (R38460) in Seattle, Washington

As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you willdesign and build the electrical systems for the avionics integration labs for the Blue Origin Lunar Landers. These labs are also known as the Vehicle Test Beds (VTBs). The VTBs will be used to test the vehicle avionics software, the interfaces between the subsystems, and the connections with other space vehicles/systems. You will also work with avionics emulators which will be sent to NASA and our partners for integration and testing. Your focus will be on the lab architecture, hardware, and data acquisition. This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit. Passion for our mission and vision is required! Because of the need for hands-on work, this position requires on-site work at Kent, WA. Multiple positions available. Responsibilities: Participate in the requirements, design, architecture, procurement, build, integration, verification, and certification of the VTBs and avionics emulators. Create and release drawings of the VTB hardware infrastructure, rack layouts, harnesses, breakout boxes/panels, power distribution, and grounding. Identify and procure equipment, and coordinate with technicians for the build, assembly, and installation of equipment and harnesses. Support the integration of flight avionics, hardware, operator consoles, and test equipment to verify the requirements and performance of avionics units under test within the VTB. Support checkout of the avionics systems and solving technical problems. Maintain configuration control of the drawings and the VTB configuration. Support problem investigation and resolution. Minimum Qualifications: B.S. degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related technical degree Industry experience with avionics systems testing Ability to produce electrical schematics and wiring diagrams Proficiency in the use of standard electronic lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power meters, data acquisition cards, etc) Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
