As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will provide Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) support for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of EHS implementation and compliance programs including but not limited to: OSHA General Industry and Construction standards, hazardous materials, cryogenics, compressed gases, lasers, robotics, fall protection, PPE, lockout/tagout, and radiation safety. You must have a passion for continuous improvement of a safety culture and building agile safety processes and for solving complex problems and providing operable solutions and be capable of acting with minimal direction on your initiative. You will help to maintain a culture that emphasizes accountability and attention to detail at all levels. Responsibilities: Manage hazardous and non-hazardous process waste streams along with recycling initiatives 50-60% of the time. The remaining time will be to assist the EHS management and engineering staff with on-site compliance associated with development, test, and manufacturing operations. Conduct daily compliance inspections to ensure compliance with the Blue Origin Health and Safety programs. Execute emergency response plans. Develop employee and contractor knowledge of our Safety Program(s). Assist in investigations of injuries and illnesses, as well as near misses. Deliver EHS training and demonstrations. Serve as a building or team focal on all EHS issues and concerns. Administer personal protective equipment as required per job hazard analysis documents. Support and develop job hazard analyses. Perform periodic audits of our Safety Programs. Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations. Qualifications: This is an entry level to mid-level position with 2-4 years proven experience in aerospace or industrial manufacturing and working weekend/day or second shift hours depending on the need Associate degree in Environmental programs including hazardous waste, stormwater, wastewater, or related field experience, or working toward degree program Self-starter and great teammate with excellent communication and interpersonal skills that is able to build relationships with employees at all levels Strong computer proficiency including the latest Microsoft Office programs Experienced forklift driver and other powered industrial trucks Must successfully complete RCRA and DOT training within 30-90 days of the position for hazardous waste storage, disposal, and transportation Operate electric vehicle and use various material handling equipment for waste management Knowledge of incident reporting processes including 5-Whys Strong self-management skills to keep on track with weekly and monthly tasks Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations Knowledge of close call reporting practices and processes Must be able to lift to 50 lbs Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Desired: 2-4 years proven experience in environmental roles that include hazardous waste management, general building inspections, and record management Knowledge of Washington State
