Job Title: Controls Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a Controls Engineer to join our Seattle team in a contract-to-direct hire role. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years in controls engineering. While Siemens experience is preferred, strong programmers with Rockwell experience will also be considered. The best candidates will be skilled with multiple PLC brands. This role requires openness to travel, with Seattle office Engineers typically traveling 20-30% of the time, but potentially up to 50%.
Responsibilities
Develop, install, debug, and commission PLC/HMI code on-site using Siemens PLC.
Design and commission industrial control systems.
Program peripheral devices and machines, and coordinate debugging, power-up, and validation with teams.
Travel to install sites to commission control systems.
Essential Skills
3+ years of experience in Controls Engineering, PLC, and HMI programming.
Proficiency in Rockwell (RSLogix, Studio 5000) or Siemens Step 7 (TIA Portal, WinCC) PLC programming.
Strong skills in motion control programming and commissioning (Servos, VFD, etc.).
Ability to program/write code/ladder logic from scratch.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Familiarity with other PLC platforms (Omron, Mitsubishi, GE, etc.) is a plus.
SCADA experience with Ignition is beneficial.
Knowledge of programming languages like Python, C#/.NET, Java is advantageous.
Experience in hardware design using AutoCAD, Promise-E, or ePlan is a plus.
Experience with automotive manufacturing integration and commissioning.
Familiarity with customer-defined standards and templates.
Proficiency with field bus networks (DeviceNet, Ethernet I/P, Profibus, ProfiNet, etc.) is a plus.
Work Environment
Fives' Seattle location, known as the person, has approximately 64 employees. This team includes engineers, technicians, and various other professionals working together to deliver innovative solutions. You'll primarily be working at Amazon order fulfillment facilities. This dynamic environment involves: high-tech facilities surrounded by advanced automation and robotics technology for efficient operations, a collaborative atmosphere working closely with engineers, technicians, and other professionals to solve problems and optimize systems, hands-on work actively involved in installing, debugging, and commissioning control systems on-site, travel opportunities based in Seattle but traveling to various Amazon facilities to experience different locations and setups, a fast-paced setting requiring quick thinking and adaptability to meet tight deadlines and ensure smooth operations, and customer interaction directly interacting with Amazon's team to understand their needs and ensure systems meet specifications.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $46.00/hr.
