This role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit and supports the Blue Ring program, which is focused on development, manufacturing, and operation of satellite systems to address one of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space mobility. As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will be exposed to a hardware-rich prototyping environment that allows you to engage in rapid design/build iteration, work with an outstanding team, and experience the full lifecycle from formulation to flight in a short time. The ideal candidate will decompose the system architectural level use cases (DRMs) and operational activities into vehicle functionality. You will handle some of the aspects of performance monitoring, working with the system budgets systems engineer. This position is successful when functions and their allocation across the system are understood and traceable through requirements and the system validation process. This candidate will deliver artifacts from the validation process, including vehicle functional and performance test plans, that are significant givers to AI&T and simulator development and execution plans that impact flight software development. To succeed, this individual will require a multi-disciplinary engineering background and make well-thought-out and justified assumptions. This role will be involved in the duties described here throughout the program development lifecycle, ensuring the functionality is well defined in the design phase and operationally successful throughout the development and deployment lifecycle phases. Responsibilities (including but not limited to) Support requirements development, allocation, functional decomposition, validation, and traceability efforts using tools like DOORS Next Generation, system lifecycle configuration management tools, and other functional analysis toolsets Carry out systems engineering activities in accordance with tailored system engineering standards and practices Develop, review, and assess validation artifacts Act as the negotiator between multiple and sometimes conflicting interests in order to make sure the system as a whole is optimized, while ensuring internal and external partners' needs are represented Support test plan development for flight and non-flight verification activities Minimum Qualifications Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering, Physics, or an equivalent technical field 6+ years of experience Experience with systems engineering principles and processes as they relate to the development of a spacecraft Excellent written and verbal communication skills Self-directed and capable of balancing several tasks at one time Travel expected up to 10-20% of the time Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum Preferred Qualifications M.S. degree in a relevant technical field 8+ years of validated experience Active TS/SCI clearance Familiarity with AI&T Highly knowledgeable of systems engineering practices and their rightsizing for rapid development and early-stage programs INCOSE or other relevant SE Certifications Compensation range for on site WA applicants is $120,060---$168,084 USD Inclusivity Statement Don't meet all desired requirements?
