POSITION SUMMARY

A Foreman (E8) is a senior-level licensed journeyman electrician. An E8 works under the guidance of a superintendent and may oversee and direct the work of a crew of 1 to 20 journeyman, helpers, and apprentices in installations, alterations, additions, and/or repair of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment.

What you’ll do:

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  1. Perform any and all duties associated with lower-level electrical craft workers.

  2. Interpret drawings and develop an overall crew work plan.

  3. Lay out work and prep materials for installation.

  4. Complete rigging and job set up for all tasks performed or supervised.

  5. Perform underground layout and rough-in.

  6. Determine wire and conduit sizing.

  7. Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit using measuring devices, hand tools, threaders, and hand or mechanical benders.

  8. Install BUSS feeders.

  9. Perform switchgear installations and terminations.

  10. Install and connect power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.

  11. Troubleshoot and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment.

  12. Operate any hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks.

  13. Understand and instruct assigned helpers in the safe operation of tools and equipment, electrical principles, and applicable codes.

  14. Meet attendance standards and comply with late/absence notification procedures.

  15. Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.

Requires basic mechanical aptitude, mathematical and English language skills. Must understand advanced electrical theory and its application to installations. Must be able to successfully pass company drug-screen and physical tests and work occasional overtime as required.

Licenses: Journeyman’s License and a current Driver’s License; must have own reliable transportation

Education: High school graduate, GED or equivalent

Experience: Must have completed a DOL-approved apprenticeship program and have over 8000 hours of on-the-job experience.

Promotes From: Journeyman 2 (E7)

­ Promotes To: Superintendent (E9)

What you bring to the table:

Experienced job runner, managing 10-50 electricians, OSHA 30, TDLR Journeyman or Masters License, 10 or more years' experience as electrical superintendent or general foreman, read and understand all drawings and specifications, budget minded, tool management, etc.
