SUNY Schenectady County Community College is seeking a full-time Human Resources Assistant. Reporting to the Executive Director for Human Resources, the Human Resources Assistant in the Office of Human Resources assists in the administration of the College's human resources functions, including recruitment and employment activities, classification and compensation, benefits, management of performance and evaluation files, and training and professional development. The Human Resources Assistant also assists the Executive Director in ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations governing personnel
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as the primary administrative support to the Executive Director
Provides clerical support to the HR department
Maintains appointment calendar
Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records
Opens, stamps and sorts incoming mail and answers general correspondence
Types and copies, reports and documents, including confidential reports
Screens callers and visitors to determine the nature of the inquiry and provides assistance or makes referrals as necessary
Works with office staff to update and maintain documents on Sharepoint and College website
Data entry in Banner pertaining to adding, changing, and or deleting employee personnel
Assists in compiling information and statistics for labor relations, collective bargaining units, and Middle States reporting
Reviews and maintains the workplace violence log for annual compliance
Assists with policy development, implementation and communication of polices
Maintains, updates, and resolves all internal and external benefit inquiries
Assists the Assistant Director for HR with administrative duties with regard to recruitment such as scheduling interviews, scheduling new employee orientation, conducting background checks, drafting of employment offer letters, creating personnel files
Coordinate's the office's management of maintaining accurate and complete personnel files including the preparation of new files and purging of inactive files
Assists with the planning and coordination of special events such as the employee service awards program, benefits enrollment, professional training and development
Maintains a database of employees for service awards, tenure, and promotions
Maintains and updates new employee onboarding packets
Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to their application status, onboarding, benefits, HR system inquiries, and standard policies and procedures; refers more complex questions to appropriate staff or management.
Orders office supplies
Serves as special projects coordinator
Performs other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
At least two (2) years' experience including academic or administrative responsibilities required. Preference given to individuals with previous experience in human resources and/or affirmative action with computer and database management in an educational setting
Strong computer skills, including spreadsheet knowledge
Ability to work independently and with all levels of staff and faculty
Interpersonal with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy
Organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Successful candidate must be customer service oriented and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to prioritize workflow, multi-task, and be resourceful.

Preferred Qualifications:
Human Resource experience in a community college, higher education or public sector environment
Knowledge of HR Banner enterprise system
Knowledge of Interview Exchange applicant tracking system

Additional Information:
Salary: $50,000
