Our Directors of Transportation, Online Sales and Post Retail provide operational and financial oversight and strategic direction for the following donated goods departments for Goodwill Southeast Georgia – Transportation/Fleet, Post-Retail, and Online Sales.

Your Impact:

  • Analyzes budget expense categories and develops plans to maximize efficiency, pricing, and net contribution for transportation, post-retail, new goods, and online sales.

  • Through analysis and data comparisons, evaluates post retail revenues and trash related expenses to build a system of accountability related to environmental impact while maximizing possible revenues through appropriate and responsible management of donated materials.

  • Reads, interprets, develops, and communicates budgets, performance targets, and key metrics to appropriate team members & direct reports.

  • Reviews applicants, conducts interviews, and selects appropriate personnel to lead retail teams throughout the assigned district. As necessary, partners with VP Donated Goods for secondary interview processes.

  • Recognizes and rewards positive contributions and performance of team members.

  • As necessary, documents and counsels regarding specific performance management issues in a proactive and encouraging manner.

  • Guides & evaluates performance management activities using a balanced and logical approach. Following a servant leader mindset, guides performance management through the lens of barrier removal, training/development, and opportunity for success.

  • Provides coaching to direct reports in alliance with leadership principles and philosophies. Positions others for success in their role.

  • Researches and recommends best practices, implements, and monitors to stimulate sales growth and build efficiency in online programming.

  • Provides guidance and direction for the Manager, New Goods and Online Retail Sales to support education, training, and development of store staff in support of extracting value from each online sale/donation.

  • Monitors shipping/manifesting and identifies problem areas. Provides root cause analysis of how to remediate problems in support of revenue growth.

  • With the Manager, New Goods and Online Retail Sales, utilizes the resources and tools available within the Goodwill membership to evaluate platform changes/adjustments, technology, and marketing to support sales growth.

  • Provide monthly sales analysis to document shipping costs, average unit, sell-through, shipping damages, etc

  • Builds transportation schedules to support store delivery, pickup, and miscellaneous transportation responsibilities to support optimal expense management.

  • Monitors vehicle maintenance schedules to maintain compliance with DOT and motor vehicle regulations.

  • Maintains DOT driver files and support documentation to standards applicable to DOT and motor vehicle operations.

  • Evaluates company fleet, recommends fleet adjustments, changes, additions.

  • Monitors company fleet activity using Verizon Fleet Connect to detail safety, miles of usage, and zones of travel by user.

  • Monitors condition/inventory of trailers and fleet vehicles.

  • Coordinates scheduling of product shipment with vendors.

  • Monitors product activities by sites to reach production related goals and sales targets.

  • Reviews national trends related to commodity pricing and utilize the Goodwill membership to determine best practice and options for post-retail sales.

  • Manages warehouse space allocations between aftermarket, raw donations, and seasonal storage.

  • As directed, manages purchases of new goods.

  • Collaborates with Store Managers to ensure proper merchandising of new goods product.

  • Prepares and submits inventory loss and margin reports to Senior Leadership for monitoring and safe guarding the new goods program.

  • As necessary, assists with cycle counts to maintain inventory controls and prevent LP issues.

  • Monitors inventory level of raw donations.

  • Communicates to Senior Leadership when donation inventory is below established par levels.

  • In partnership with VP, Donated Goods, effectively manages the supply of raw goods to retail stores.

  • Responsible for proactive, ongoing, and timely responsive communication with organizational representatives to adequately inform of business operations, potential barriers, or personnel status.

  • Communicates widely with team to provide updates regarding organizational initiatives, events, or policy/procedure changes.

  • Champions safety excellence by ensuring that teams operate with safety as a primary and deliberate action in all aspects of work to support our zero-workplace incident’s goal.

  • When accidents occur, conducts root cause analysis and evaluates associate and/or customer behavior to determine how to prevent reoccurrence.

  • Reviews compliance requirements in relation to timecard compliance, CPSC recall information, OSHA regulations, labor standards, etc., and reports any potential issues or concerns to the appropriate department.

  • Reviews key reports and metrics to evaluate and assess potential loss situations in relation to cash, materials, and/or equipment. As necessary, partners with Asset Protection to support loss prevention efforts.

  • Proactively monitors & evaluates facility, equipment, and technology to remediate issues.

  • Partners with support departments to advance organizational efforts in facilities, information technology, asset protection, human resources, workforce development, community engagement, and finance.

  • Provides on-site training for individuals and/or groups to support initial onboarding as well as ongoing development/enhancement of operating and performance standards.

  • Prepares and delivers reports to various organizational groups to relay performance highlights, program initiatives/challenges, or operational efforts.

  • Reports in an adequate and timely manner to VP Donated Goods/COO regarding key issues (i.e., HR, store needs, emergencies, etc.).

  • Ensures all locations meet/exceed standards of performance as related to customer and donor service.

  • A role model for exceptional customer service in all conduct with internal and external customers, including associates, customers, colleagues, and support departments.

  • Answers customer complaints, remediates customer issues, and educates staff in response to customer performance issues.

  • Instills the value of continuous quality improvement throughout operations – values the need to “raise the bar” continually and ensures standard operating procedures are followed.

  • Questions, challenges, and innovates to ensure operations are advancing appropriately and continually improving.

  • Acts as a Goodwill ambassador, champions Goodwill’s mission, and participates in community activities to support advancement of Goodwill throughout local communities.

Your Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; college level course in business or marketing preferred.

  • 5+ years progressive leadership experience in transportation, fleet, or retail related services.

  • Must operate with high levels of integrity and trust.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to lead, inspire, motivate, communicate, and manage positively to store personnel at all levels.

  • Ability to train, coach and develop associates at all levels.

  • Able to successfully manage multiple priorities simultaneously with ability to adjust as needed to align with business pivots to achieve results.

  • Must exercise considerable independent judgment and discretion.

  • Ability to work flexible, full-time schedule to include days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • Must be willing to receive/respond to texts, emails, and calls during evening and weekend hours.

  • Frequent travel to/from individual sites is required. Valid driver's license, ability to be insured, and clean driving record is required.
