Amazon Sr. Software Dev Engineer, CodeWhisperer in Santa Clara, California

Amazon Q/CodeWhisperer is a machine learning (ML)–powered service that helps improve developer productivity by generating code recommendations based on their comments in natural language and code in the integrated development environment (IDE).

As a senior engineer within our organization, you will assume the leadership of a dynamic team of highly motivated software developers dedicated to tackling complex challenges through innovative solutions. You will lead team in building solutions which will involve Automated reasoning, Machine learning, Large Language Mode and Generative AI. Your primary responsibility will involve guiding the team in the design, development, testing, and deployment of distributed machine learning systems and large-scale solutions to cater to our global customer base. Collaboration with a group of Machine Learning scientists will be essential, as you contribute to shaping our overall strategy and defining the team's roadmap. Taking charge of system architecture, you will champion best practices to ensure the delivery of a high-quality product. Your role will also involve mentoring and developing junior engineers, fostering an environment of continuous learning and growth. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in engineering large-scale software systems, possess strong technical acumen, excel in communication, and demonstrate a drive to achieve results within a fast-paced environment.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
