Reporting to the Director of Protective Intelligence, the Physical Risk Detection Specialist will develop scripts and leverage custom tools to gather, analyze, and author actionable information to identify, disrupt, and prevent harm and other disruptions that might impact our colleague and executives’ ability to safely conduct business globally with a focus on Latin America. Critical skills include partnering with key stakeholders and providing awareness, indications, warnings, and operational readiness. The Global Security Protective Intelligence team analyzes and assesses internal, external, and geopolitical threats to American Express executives, employees, facilities, assets, events, and interests globally.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain and continually enhance priority requirements that align with needs of stakeholders.
Multilingual technical threat detection (threat hunting) to identify, disrupt and prevent potential physical harm and threats, both internally and externally, for all colleagues, facilities, and corporate events.Role includes hunting for brand exposure risks.
Develop scripts to identify specific insider threats and external risks.
Leverage OSINT, proprietary information, and purpose-built tools to create written intelligence products for key stakeholders to proactively address threats.
Monitor global events relevant to the company.
Support protective intelligence investigations involving threats to leaders and facilities.
Produce and present threat assessments, deep-dive analysis, and briefings that are cohesive, concise, and professional.
Build and maintain partnerships with key teams/functions within the company such as physical security, information security, business continuity, insider threat, and investigations.
Interact rapidly at all levels of the organization and across regions to provide subject matter expertise on threats.
Provide after-hours support, as required.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
Oral and written fluency in English and Spanish with a deep understanding of Latin American culture.
Possess an advanced level of understanding of investigative techniques and threat-based intelligence analysis and to detect and resolve threats and other criminal activity.
In-depth understanding of the threats affecting executives, corporate assets, and events.
Experience in data visualization, network analysis, and application of structured analytic techniques to generate and test hypotheses, assess cause and effect, challenge analysis, and support decision making.
Working knowledge in one or more of the following areas: data science, analysis, executive protection, close protection, counterintelligence, insider threat, or all-source intelligence.
Possesses the ability to review information to determine its significance, validate its accuracy and assess its reliability.
Strong personal initiative, intellectually curious, and knowledgeable about local, regional, and world events.
EXPERIENCE
- 10 years’ working in large mission critical environment in one or more areas of data science, intelligence, security, or geopolitical related disciplines.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Master’s degree a plus.
Qualifications
Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefits
