General Description
Solid knowledge of SOX internal controls over financial reporting, information technology general controls, and U.S. GAAP. Ability to identify and analyze issues associated with control deficiencies and provide solutions for remediation. Support business units with guidance on internal controls. Ability to coordinate meetings with business units as well as auditors to discuss findings and remediation plans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
• Assist management in the risk assessment process and design of IT controls.
• Collaborate with control owners for remediation of IT-related internal control gaps.
• Facilitate and support internal and external audits.
• Interpret and analyze audit evidence, operational data, and information systems.
• Track exceptions and ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
• Educate technical teams on ITGC and compliance practices.
• Address third-party requests for security and compliance information.
• Ensure adherence to ITGC frameworks and standards.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
Experience
• 3+ years of progressive internal audit or internal controls’ function experience with SOX 404 exposure.
• Relevant certifications (CPA/CMA/CIA/CICA/CISA) preferred.
• Banking industry experience preferred.
Other Qualifications
• Familiarity with internal control frameworks and indicators of fraud.
• Proficient in the evaluation of internal control deficiencies and the financial impact assessment.
• Knowledge and skills in the analysis of financial information and accounting pronouncements.
• Research and analysis skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, both in English and Spanish.
• Presentation skills before groups and individuals.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Advanced knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Flexibility to travel.
