Job Description

A top hospital system and healthcare provider on the west coast and in Kearny Mesa/San Diego area is looking for a Service Center Representative to join their Medicare and Special Projects team. This is a complex role that will require critical thinking, computer skills, and the ability to make autonomous decisions.

The Service Center Rep will perform heavy data entry (80%) and outbound calls (20%) supporting health plan enrollment. The overall objective of this position is to perform the account maintenance, billing, reconciliation, reporting and/or customer service related activities. Duties could include one or more of the following: performing database maintenance and research tasks to support the contracts administration, cash control operations and assignment of medical record numbers, to generate and distribute contracts and member I.D. cards, to provide facilities support and to enter documents into the workflow imaging system.

Additional responsibilities of the Service Center Representative in the Medicare and Special Projects group will include but are not limited to:

  * Identifying, researching and reconciling billing payments amounts to ensure accurate eligibility determination, payment, revenue and membership records

  * Setting up and maintaining member data including but not limited to processing enrollments, corrections, retroactivity adjustments and terminations

  * Supporting eligibility inquiries

  * Ensuring bills are correct and mailed timely

  * Interacting with purchaser benefit administrators to answer questions and explain Health Plan policy and contractual provisions related to membership and billing. Resolving related problems

  * Assisting Health Plan purchaser contacts and sales and service representatives in the sales process and the analysis and resolution of problems related to membership accounting

  * Resolving payment discrepancies and delinquencies

  * Identifying, coding, batching, scanning and indexing documents for imaging

  * Providing office services support including but not limited to picking up, sorting and delivering mail, filing and retrieving documents, ordering and distributing office supplies, performing miscellaneous facilities maintenance tasks and providing photocopying and copier maintenance

  * Working with internal and external customers and vendors to resolve any issues related to support services activities

  * Collecting and monitoring productivity and customer service quality measures

  * Participating team-based projects and contributing to customer service and operations improvements initiatives

  * Assisting with training as required

  * Facilitating communications across all lines of business and with other Kaiser Permanente departments

  * Participating in purchasers performance evaluations and performance target setting activities

  * Perform other duties as they are assigned

ONSITE/REMOTE:

  * This position will start onsite for the first 6 weeks of training minimum. After 6 weeks, you will be offered the opportunity to go fully remote PENDING PERFORMANCE

  * All candidates must live within 1 hour of 92108 zip code and be willing to commute to the office should their equipment malfunction

  * This is not a hybrid role, but there is the option to work full-time onsite should the SCR choose

SHIFT/SCHEDULE:

  * Monday - Friday: 8am - 5pm PT with breaks

  * You are NOT allowed to miss any time/days during the training period (7 weeks) or during the holidays. Missing any days will put you at risk of termination.

ASSESSMENT FOR ROLE:

  * All candidates in consideration must take and pass an assessment, scoring highly in the Data Entry, Learning Potential, and Thoroughness sections.

  * The assessment will take 50 - 75 minutes, so plan accordingly

  * Ask your recruiter point of contact for key tips to prepare and pass the assessment

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:

  * This is one of the top hospital systems and healthcare employers in the US, so this is an excellent opportunity to build transferrable skills and build a resume.

  * No flexibility on the start date 8/5/24.

  * There is NO TIME OFF allowed in the first 90 days and during the holidays!! This is very important, as the individual will be terminated if they're taking off time from work.

  * There will be 2 - 4 weeks where this individual will only work 20 hours per week before open enrollment starts. There will be opportunity for overtime after that

  * The Anticipated end date for this role is roughly 01/31/2025 - some possibility of extension/conversion, but no guarantee.

EQUIPMENT:

The employer will be providing all necessary equipment during the onsite portion of training and when you are sent remote

PAY:

The pay rate for the Service Center Representative in San Diego will be $24.50/hr (no flexibility)

Skills and Requirements

  • Minimum of 2+ years' experience in accounting, finance or related field preferred - heavy data entry

      * Proficiency in math, data entry, typing, spelling and grammar, for which tests are required

      * Computer access and literacy - ability to navigate multiple screens/websites at any given time

      * High School Diploma or equivalent

      * ASSESSMENT: Overall passing and high scores in Data Entry, Thoroughness, and Learning Potential sections

      * LOCATION: Must live max 1.5 hours away from worksite location with ability to work onsite as needed for training and beyond. * Bachelor's degree

      * Prior Healthcare related field BG

      * Account, Finance, Banking, etc experience

      * Previous experience in roles that involves complex problem solving including billing related issues.

      * College grads: Good GPA and high test scores null
