Description

The CNC Machinist is responsible for producing machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine. Will maintain quality and safety

standards, keep records, and maintain equipment and supplies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering drawings, materials, specifications, locations of surfaces, machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).

  • Set up and run CNC lathe and milling machines.

  • Set up and operate Wire EDM.

  • Set up and operate Manual Mill and Drill Press.

  • Performs machine operations where the materials, tooling, and sequence of operations have been pre-planned and established. Makes necessary machine adjustments and reports improper machine functioning or cutting action for correction.

  • Align and fasten work using standard fixtures and established methods.

  • Install and adjust cutting tools consistent with type and size of material being machined.

  • Follow established manufacturing methods using standard production machines, materials, and tooling.

  • Adjust feeds, speeds, and depth of cut to machine quality parts, per documentation.

  • Operate hand and power tools to deburr precision and complex machine parts in accordance with semi-complicated engineering blueprints and route sheets to close tolerances.

  • Inspect parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as gages, calipers, micrometers and comparators.

  • Routinely maintain equipment to ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability specific requirements.

  • Actively implement lean initiatives by identifying and providing suggestions on areas for improvement.

  • Effectively applies lean concepts and tools in work area.

  • Observe all company policies and procedures, including safety rules, and maintains a clean and orderly work area.

  • Will view a Cad file and interrogate it for dimensions using Mastercam.

  • Produce parts that are burr free.

  • Making sure parts are free of imperfections caused by but not limited to machining

  • Chatter, gouges and scratches.

  • Bad surface finish.

  • Handling damage.

  • Imbedded chips.

  • Missing edge breaks or chamfers.

  • Will look for ways to implement process improvements.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Setup, run, and check after work.

  • Cleaning and maintenance of Disco Automatic Dicing Saw.

  • Follow and support all safety practices by wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE), following all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and complying with safety signs and placards, maintaining good housekeeping, communicating unsafe practices and conditions to your local or PD EHS teams, and reporting all safety incidents (including near misses) as they occur.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Detail oriented, ability to create parts free of imperfections caused by but not limited to the following:

  • Chatter, gouges and scratches;

  • Bad surface finish; Handling damage;

  • Imbedded chips;

  • Missing edge breaks or chamfers.

  • Excellent manual dexterity.

  • Great verbal and written communication skills to include active listening.

  • Experience in the use of manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (mills, lathes, grinders etc.).

  • Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurements.

  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals.

  • Knowledge of metal properties and other material.

  • Mathematical skills and analytical abilities.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • 3 + years of experience.

  • Associates Degree or Trade School Certification.

  • Experience with composite manufacturing.

  • Programming experience with Mastercam 2018 or newer.

Knowles is committed to providing a competitive and fair total compensation package for all employees.

One element in our total compensation package is base pay. The starting hourly pay for this role is targeted to be between $26.00 to $27.00.

Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to previous experience and skills acquired prior to joining Knowles, cost of living in the assigned work location, assigned schedule, and salaries of similarly situated peers at the company. It is to be expected that candidates will come to us with different sets of skills and experiences and therefore will be paid at different points in the stated range.
