State of Utah - Jobs Regional State Security Training Special in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah
The Utah Department of Public Safety,State Security Division is looking for a State Security Regional Training Specialist to support county and local law enforcement agencies in developing training curriculum for armed personnel working within a school environment. In coordination with county,local law enforcement and local education agencies the incumbents will coordinate,facilitate training,drills,manage associated records and conduct site assessments and provide solutions.
Principal Duties:
- Develop training curriculums
- Coordinate with county and local law enforcement to coordinate/facilitate training
- Coordinate with local education agencies to provide or facilitate training
- Manage training records
- Enforce the laws and rules of this state relating to safety and security standards as delineated in code and rule.
- Ensure statewide operations are implemented based on established procedures.
- Maintain regulatory records and paperwork.
- Coordinate with and provide standards to the County Security Chiefs.
- Coordinate with school safety directors and specialists to provide standards
- Collaborate with school safety and security stakeholders (e,g. Superintendents,principals,Juvenile Justice organizations,county and local law enforcement agencies,charter and private schools,SafeUT,School Resource Officers,State Fire Marshal s Offi ce,etc.)
- Recommend safety and security protocols for designing,constructing and reconstructing new and existing structures.
- Assist law enforcement with statewide standardized training requirements,model critical incident response training,program development,and threat assessment requirements.
Ideal Candidate:
- Is currently Law Enforcement (LEO) certified
- Has a minimum five (5) years law enforcement experience as a certified Law Enforcement Officer
- Ability to collaborate with law enforcement,education,mental health professionals,and other public safety stakeholders
- Ability to teach,present,and instruct large audiences
- Ability to evaluate processes and procedures to solve issues within them
Preference may be given to:
- Background and experience in security,safety,threat,and risk assessments
- Experience in building and/or managing programs
- Security certifications (i.e. CPTED,SSAT,PASS,etc.)
- Experience in infrastructure or school security
- Experience as a school resource officer (SRO)
- POST Instructor Development Individuals
- Leadership experience & qualities
- Current Department of Public Safety employees
Supplemental Information:
- POST certification; Peace Officer Standards Training in Utah is required
- A valid driver license is required to drive a motor vehicle on a highway in this state per UCA53-3- 202(1)(a).
- Department of Public Safety has a strict tattoo policy for those who are sworn employees. Tattoos are prohibited that can be visible in a short sleeve uniform. No waivers or coverings are allowed.
- Applicants are subject to drug screening and extensive background investigation prior to final offer of employment.
- Incumbent shall reside within 50 miles of the area they are assigned.
