Job Summary

Core Fitness and Gear Central Supervisors collaborate with, and report to the Manager and Graduate Assistant to ensure the daily running of program areas, guest satisfaction, team performance and retention. Responsible for all details surrounding the day-to-day operations of the Core Fitness Center and Gear Central. Furthermore, the supervisor may be asked to assist with special programs, events, and any other duties necessary for quality services.

Campus Recreation Services is located at the George S. Eccles Student Life Center, which connects student Life with academic life to create an engaged campus community. Amenities include a 50-meter pool, indoor and outdoor leisure pools, large indoor hot tub/spa, 320-yard indoor running track, bouldering and 4-story climbing wall, 5 sport courts, racquetball courts, 4 group fitness studios, and a combative room. Additional amenities include a branch of the U First Credit Union, Shake Smart, four sand volleyball courts and an outdoor basketball court.

Student Affairsis comprised of nearly 20 departments and is focused on supporting student well-being and success with the ultimate goal of assisting students in discovering their passion, people, and purpose. This position is work study eligible, but work study is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees procedures for closing of the Core Fitness Center and Gear Central facilities.

  • Ability to work up to three shifts, including weekends, if necessary.

  • Complies with university credit card and cash handling procedures.

  • Monitor and supervise entire facilities during mid-day, evening and weekend operating hours.

  • Ensures that a safe and equitable environment exists at all times for all participants in the Core Fitness Center by following and enforcing operating and use policies.

  • Supervises, directs, trains and assists Gear Central and Core Fitness attendants.

  • Reports any violation of staff conduct or policy to the Manager or Graduate Assistant.

  • Facilitates conflict resolution with customer problems and complaints.

  • Reports all accidents, injuries and emergencies to the Manager or Graduate Assistant.

  • Oversees preparation and clean-up for special events and other specific programming.

  • Attends to Core Fitness Center and Gear Central cleanliness.

  • Reports and/or records definite or potential hazards and unsafe conditions to the Manager or Graduate Assistant.

  • Be responsible for current policy and procedure revision by engaging with team members daily.

  • Perform other duties as directed or assigned by the Manager or Graduate Assistant.

  • Attends and actively participates in bi-weekly meetings with the Manager, Graduate Assistant and Leadership Team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently employee of Campus Recreation Services.

  • Preference will be given to students with leadership skills and experience.

  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and have a strong knowledge of and experience with Campus Recreation Services facilities, services and programs

  • Current certifications in Standard First Aid/ CPR are required, or be able to receive certification within one month of hiring/promotion.

  • Have been an employee with Core Fitness or Gear Central for at least one semester.
