Job Description:

Salt Lake City is searching for a driven, enthusiastic Apprentice to join our team. Apprentice responsibilities include learning and developing practical skills, participating in classes and workshops on and offsite, observing all health and safety codes, and completing tests and work assignments.

To be successful as an Apprentice, you must have great time management skills, be well-organized, flexible, and willing to assist wherever possible. Housing Stability is a Division within Community and Neighborhoods. This position will work directly with residents and the loan team. If you are interested in finance, loans, or the housing market this is a great place to start!

About the Position:

Housing Stability is searching for a passionate apprentice to join our mission of creating strong, stable neighborhoods!

Housing Stability's Neighborhood Improvement & Stabilization team seeks a passionate apprentice to assist in administering loan programs for homeownership and community development. The Apprentice will play a key role in administering the loan portfolio that includes homebuyer loans, rehabilitation loans, and grants. The Apprentice will work directly with residents and the loan team, gaining valuable knowledge in housing finance while building strong administrative skills for a future in housing or community development.

Housing Stability is hiring for one apprentice position, under the Neighborhood Improvement & Stabilization (NIS) team. The position will assist and learn the process for administering loan functions, particularly for Federally funded loans and low-income homeowners, and the eligibility process.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or equivalent and be at least 21 years old.

Position Wage:

$18.00/hr.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acquire specialized skills under the tutelage of experienced mentors.

  • Attend workshops and participation in as many learning opportunities as possible.

  • Assist within the relevant department while also learning about other aspects of the city.

  • Observe health and safety procedures.

  • Complete all tests, presentations, and other required evaluations.

  • Positively receiving feedback.

  • Attend meetings and offering suggestions for improvement.

  • Keep a log of everything learned.

  • Build professional relationships with colleagues, leaders and general public.

Apprentice Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license may be required.

  • Good physical strength and hand-eye coordination may be required.

  • Good time management, critical, and interpersonal skills may be required.

  • Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal skills, and troubleshooting abilities.

  • A growth mindset and passion for learning.
