Interact with Chief Engineer and discuss alternatives design philosophies and the pros and cons of each prior to final framing layout.

Calculate environmental loads (dead, live, wind, seismic) according to building codes, and estimate mechanical and electrical equipment loads.

Provide structural quantity estimates by applying industry specific rules and engineering calculations.

Apply experience in dynamic analysis and design of industrial vibration equipment supports and foundations

Model, analyze, and design 3D structures (steel or reinforced concrete) subjected to both static (Deal, Live, Wind) and dynamic (Seismic, Live, Equipment Vibration) loads, using structural analysis software (SAP2000, STAAD or RISA 3D) supplemented by manual calculations.

Perform structural design calculations for foundation systems, shallow (spread, combined or mat) or deep (caissons and piles) as well as earth retaining structures using structural engineering calculations software including MATHCAD or TEDDS

Analyze mat foundations and piers for equipment vibrations using Dyna and SAP software.

Design material storage structures, including concrete silos and bunkers, and steel bins and hoppers using Microsoft Excel, SAP and Tedds.

Apply working knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, or SOLIDWORKS; and AutoCAD.

Direct designers in the development of 3D Revit models and construction drawing preparation.

Check calculations prepared by other engineers to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, specifications, design criteria and conformance to engineering practices.
