Job Overview

The Families That Flourish -- Reporting to the Program Director, School Administrative Assistant provides clerical support to the Director and team to ensure the efficient operation of the school. The ideal candidate should be a hardworking, motivated individual with attention to detail and the ability to work well in a team setting. A professional and positive attitude and loving demeanor with children. The center's hours require part-time, flexible scheduling between 6 AM and 6 PM, Monday through Friday or Saturday if needed.

COMPENSATION

$14.00/hr.; Part-Time; Non-Exempt (20 hours/week)

 

Responsibilities:

Performs secretarial duties for the director such as word processing, filing, record keeping, staff meeting minutes, creating school forms such as permission slips, mail distribution, creating and maintaining calendars and schedules, creating correspondence, and maintaining school compliance information.

Assists in the planning and preparation for regulatory visits.

Coordinates the utilization of center facilities for non-center related events.

Organizes, prepares and plans school special events.

Other clerical duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED. Associate degree preferred.
  2. Experience in an administrative role, preferably in a private or public school.
  3. Strong written and verbal communication skills including proficient grammar skills.
  4. Demonstrated ability to compose, proofread, and edit correspondence with attention to detail.
  5. Experience using basic office equipment, filing and record maintenance systems, and working knowledge of word processing and other office application software.
  6. Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a quickly changing environment.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
  8. Good time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and complete tasks accurately during periods of frequent interruptions.
  9. Ability to establish and maintain confidential and professional working relationships with the director, staff, parents, children, vendors and the general public.
  10. Ability to handle confidential information and materials with discretion.
  11. High proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite with experience using word processing programs, spreadsheets, databases, and keyboarding.
  12. Must have a valid driver's license or reliable transportation to work.

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • First Aid Certification required within the first 60 days.
  • State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT)
  • Fingerprinting
  • DHS clearance
  • Negative T.B. skin test
  • Able to maintain an overall positive and professional disposition.

Additional Information

Requires moderate physical effort. Standing, carrying, bending, stretching, stooping, pulling and pushing, lifting weights up to 30 pounds. Working conditions involve noise, heat, changes in temperature, elements, odors, moisture, etc. May be required to work additional hours as dictated by the workload and staffing.
