General Definition of Work: Performs intermediate administrative support work administering basic vision screening tests to children from preschool to high school.
Essential Functions:
- Administers basic vision screening tests to children from preschool to high school to identify those with deficiencies.
- Prepares screening forms, classroom forms, and other required paperwork for the Hearing and Vision Program Coordinator, parent of the tested child, and the school system.
- Completes follow-up on all medical referrals, including posting doctor's reports, making phone calls, or remailing original paperwork. May involve locating parents or guardians.
- Schedules vision screening dates with school personnel.
- Drives to various testing locations, carries equipment and supplies, sets up rooms for testing, sets up and tests equipment, and coordinates with staff to gather children for testing.
- Works in the office filing, preparing packets, and doing paperwork. Verifies insurance as needed.
Minimum Qualifications: Education: High School Diploma or GED Special Requirements:
- Be certified by the State of Michigan in Vision Screening upon hire.
- Valid driver's license in the State of Michigan.
