Eaton Corporation Training Program-CNC Machinist, 2nd Shift in Rumford, Rhode Island

Eaton’s IS AER FED is currently seeking a Training Program-CNC Machinist, 2nd Shift for 2nd Shift. Are you looking to join our team and develop your skills? This position is based at our Rumford, RI facility.

Core hours for this position are 3pm-11pm.

The starting hourly rate for this position is $29.02 + $0.60 p/h shift differential per hour. See below to training program wage structure.

What you’ll do:

Eaton’s Aerospace Division is currently seeking a Machinist, 2nd shift to join our Rumford, RI team.

(Pay structure for program is based on required skill and progression)

Program Wage Tier progression:

  • Step 1. Labor Grade 6 $29.02

  • Step 2. Labor Grade 5 $29.96

  • Step 3. Labor Grade 4 $31.78

  • Step 4. Labor Grade 3 $33.26

This program assumes that the trainee is able to read and interpret blueprints and use basic measuring instruments.

Minimum of 1 year of manual turning, CNC Turning, or CNC Milling experience is required.

This program shall start three labor grades below the final labor grade of the of the program and the following skills are required to advance:

Skills required to advance to the next Labor Grade, after 2 months:

  • Run a CMM: Setup and use T-comparator, Optical Comparator, Surface Analyzer, and any other measuring equipment required to be used in the cell.

  • Set up and operate the Okuma CNC lathes and all other equipment located within the Machining Cell.

  • Set up and operate manual and CNC Turning Machines under the guidance of Group Leader

  • Perform a wide variety of operations such as: Bench Grind, Turn Bore, Mill, Window, Clean etc.

  • Use of chucks, fixtures, parallels, and blocks to obtain proper alignment, maintain relationships.

  • Locate fixtures and work pieces in relationship to established reference surfaces and perform in place final machining of fixtures and work pieces as required.

  • Work from blueprints, methods sheets, set up sheets, protype drawings, special summaries, and verbal instructions to produce parts with tolerances as close as .0001".

  • Perform necessary bench work such as filing, fitting, deburring, etc.

  • Setup and run manual polishes (respirators use required for some material)

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution

  • CNC Turning & CNC Milling experience required. A minimum total of 1 year.

  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Rumford, RI will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables.

  • Experience with precision measurement instrumentation

  • Knowledgeable in GD&T

Skills

Skills required to advance to the next Labor Grade, after 4 months:

  • Independently set up ad operate CNC Turning and Milling Machines

Skills required to complete the training program to advance to the final Labor Grade 3 Cell Specialist positions, after 6 months:

  • Performs all duties under the Cell Specialist Machining job description meeting satisfactory job standards.

The trainees progress will be evaluated each month by a representative of Management to assess the trainee’s performance and/or readiness for advancement.
