Central Maine Medical Center Activities Aide, Part Time Days, Rumford Community Home in Rumford, Maine

Rumford Community Home is seeking an Activity Aide to join our team! This is a part-time, 24-hour, benefits eligible position. Starting pay is $18.00

This is an Activity Aide position with our Rumford Community Homes Long Term Care Facility in Rumford, Maine. The Activity Aide plans an activity program for residents that will help carry out the objectives of the facility as part of the total resident care. Supervision and protection of residents during these activities and compliance with safety regulations and policies. Supervises activity aides and volunteers. Keep up to date activity forms. Care and use of supplies and equipment.

Regulatory Requirements: • High School Diploma. • Activity Director Certificate (not requirement for position) helpful • 1-2 years’ Supervisory experience in Activity Program or supervisory experience in another setting. • Must be willing to work with varied diagnosis. • Must possess leadership ability and the willingness to cooperate with others • Must have ability to plan and organize varied recreational activities • Must have an understanding of the social, psychological, and recreational needs of residents with varied challenges. • May be required to handle emotional disturbances. • Must have knowledge and understanding of Regulations for Level IV residential care regulations, especially specifically for activities. • Must be able to work productively and positively with the Administrator, other department heads, consultants, external vendors and the Department of Health and Human Services.

    Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Plans a goal-oriented activity program to meet the need of each individual resident. 2. Coordinates activity plan and schedule with ISP (Individual Service plan). 3. Is aware of limitations of each resident. 4. Initiates motivation of residents to increase desire to participate in activities. 5. Supervises activities, which includes preparations, participation, clean-up, and compliance with safety regulations and complies with DHHS Rules that Govern Level IV Assisted Housing Programs. 6. Supervises Activity Assistants. 7. May contact relatives and inform them of activities and progress of specific residents. 8. Inform staff, administrator, and residents of the activity plan by personal contact and monthly calendar. 9. Advises Administrator of any equipment or supplies needed. Also informs maintenance of equipment that needs to be repaired. 10. Directs in-service training that pertains to the activity program. 11. Develops plans for independent and group activities for each resident in accordance with his/her needs and interests. 12. Reviews ISP activity plans and records progress monthly. 13. Keeps a daily record of resident participation in Activities. 14. Be available during state and federal inspections to explain the program and records. 15. Be responsible for handling large amounts of petty cash and residents’ funds. 16. Attends meetings and department head meetings.as scheduled 17. Provides other services/performs other duties as may be assigned by the administrator. 18. Uses and is knowledgeable regarding information technology systems necessary to carry out job function. 19. Assist in the development and participates in new employee orientation program. 20. Suggests to the Administrator the need for capital items in the Activity Department. 21. Attends state/federal in-services, reads, signs, and returns copy of In-service subject. 22. Activity participates in performance improvement, Quality Assurance, Continuous Quality Improvement (QA/CQI), and Resident Safety meetings. 23. May be invited to corporate meetings (Monday Morning Meetings, quarterly CFO meetings, etc.) 24. Ordering supplies as needed. 25. Facilitates Resident Council Meetings, type council meeting minutes, distribute to residents, Administrator and other Department Heads. Post minutes in area for all residents to review. 26. Notify residents and family members orally and in writing, within first month of admission of the resident right to participate in resident council. 27. Responsible for recruitment of activity assistant staff, when necessary, as outlined in HC-HR-3101(R4) and any updates that follow.
