West Marine Rig Shop Production Manager in Rock Hill, South Carolina

Job Summary:

The Rig Shop Manager achieves the sales goals of the business unit through planning, coordinating, and directing all operations of the rigging production facility while supporting all Satellite Rigging Locations. This position will actively grow the rigging sales and profitability through customer interaction. They will interpret diagrams, measurements and interact with rigging to complete rigging order requests. They will coordinate workflow to best utilize the resources by assessing the lead time of work to determine if a job should be completed by the production facility. They will ensure that all products for quality and signed off before being delivered to the customer.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.

  • Oversees the daily workflow of the rigging production facility.

  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.

  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Recommends and sells the proper products to ensure complete rigging solutions for retail and wholesale customers.

  • Manage people, production, and the scheduling of outside work.

  • Works closely with store group to increase awareness and train associates on rigging offerings and processes for placing rigging orders.

  • Ensures that all products produced and sold through Rigging Services are inspected for quality and will perform to the application that it is being built to.

  • Works closely with buyers, assortment planners, and vendors to ensure assortments and in-stocks align with customer and production needs.

  • Continues to improve product knowledge through training, product education, and certification.

  • Uses discretion in handling customer complaints.

  • Work with associates to achieve the business unit’s sales plan.

  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment.

  • Support all sustainability efforts throughout West Marine.

  • Available to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including nights, weekends and some holidays.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrates advanced technical skills in Splicing and installation rigging duties in the shop and on marine vessels.

  • Must be able to provide transportation to worksites.

  • Must understand the proper ways to go aloft and be able to execute.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 5+ Years of Rigging/Management experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking

  • Must be able to bend, stoop and crawl.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
