$75,000-$82,000 per year plus generous benefits!
Under the direction of the Chief Development Officer, the Philanthropy Director will serve as a major gift officer for capital, program, and endowment initiatives. The Director will be the YMCA’s lead relationship manager for non-annual major gifts and will meet regularly with donors and prospects for cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation activities, and will lead prospecting efforts with volunteers and staff. The Director should be a dynamic story teller and committed listener that is keenly focused on connecting donor passions with the YMCA’s needs. The end results will be meeting established fundraising goals and growing the YMCA’s prominence as an organization in which the philanthropic community is highly invested. The position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies to ensure the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester are conveyed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Primary function is to manage relationships that lead to investment and long-term partnership with individual donors.
• Spend at least 75% of the time directly cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift donors and prospects.
• Partner with Philanthropy staff to record and track donor information and consistently adds-to and updates a robust prospect pipeline.
• Strategize and partner with the Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Development Officer on their respective prospect pool.
• Work with Annual Giving staff to consistently identify and upgrade donors.
• Prioritize long-term engagement with major capital, program, and endowment donors with specialized stewardship plans.
• Attend all meetings, training and events as required
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Proven experience (5+ years) in major gift solicitation
Exceptional communication skills, with extraordinary listening skills.
Experience in sourcing prospects (through data, community connections, and partners), cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of $25,000 and greater.
Knowledge of local philanthropy landscape.
Ability to work collaboratively.
Embodiment of the YMCA’s core values consistent with the mission of the YMCA.
Experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred.
Must have a personal vehicle and the ability to travel within the service area on a consistent basis.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to stand or sit for the duration of the shift
• Must be able to bend and stoop occasionally
• Must be able to lift at least 20 pounds occasionally
• Must be able to travel from location to location
