University of Rochester Manager, Billing - Remote/Hybrid Opportunity in Rochester, New York

Responsibilities

Purpose:

Manages Patient Financial Services Support Team. Provides front end billing support to Patient Financial Services. Seeks ways to improve processes and ensure timely and efficient claim submission.

Manages all aspects of the enrollment process for Strong Memorial Hospital and Highland providers and facility. Has overall responsibility for the activities performed in the Hospital Enrollment department within Patient Financial Services, including but not limited to, time-sensitive enrollment, oversight of enterprise-wide database, denied payment resolution/recovery with payers and supervision of staff. Serves as the primary contact for all SMH Program Administrators, Billing Managers and Contract Managers regarding all aspects of provider enrollment. Seeks ways to improve processes and ensure timely and efficient activities. Requires extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements, including Medicare and Medicaid.

Specific Responsibilities :

Under general direction and with considerable latitude for independent judgment:

30% Manages Support Team work queue process to ensure timely claim submission.

  • Payer coverage changes made at the patient guarantor level.

  • Front-end claim rejections

  • Claims with no payer response

20% Oversees Patient Financial Services mail distribution process

  • Incoming mail

  • Mail scanning via OnBase

  • Mailing paper claims

20% Manages compliance process with enrollment regulations on a continuous basis to avoid billing issues and denied claims.

  • Works with PBB billing manager, UBO/departmental staff and Revenue Integrity to ensure all providers and upcoming sites within PBB departments are enrolled with Medicare and Medicaid.

  • Completes enrollment of hospital-based locations and providers

  • Responsible for prevention of non-compliance through pro-active efforts, including the education and instruction to SMH departmental administrators.

  • Serves as the liaison between hospital-based providers and all payers to assure appropriate enrollment and on-going maintenance of active provider numbers.

  • Completes Out-of-State Medicaid applications on a case-by-case basis.

  • Ensures effective communication takes place between all participants in enrollment processes.

20% Supervises staff and manages personnel-related matters, such as interviewing, hiring, training, time reporting, performance evaluations, attendance and the corrective action and disciplinary process. Assures compliance with FLSA and interprets University policy for staff.

10% Other duties as assigned: attends internal and external meetings and seminars when appropriate; attends continuing education seminars as needed.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related relevant experience in business office operations, consulting or auditing required

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Pay Range

Pay Range: $59,197 - $82,888 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
