University of Rochester Financial Analyst II in Rochester, New York

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The University of Rochester Health Service (UHS) mission is to improve the health and well-being of its students, faculty, and staff. UHS provides Primary Care, Mental Health, Health Promotion, and Occupational Health services; and administers the self-funded Student Health Insurance Plan. We seek a skilled and team-oriented Financial Analyst to support our financial success and goals. With general guidance from the Director of Administration and Finance, this individual will conduct complex analysis of financial data in support of all UHS programs, assist with the preparation of annual budgets and fee schedules, monitor budgets and perform variance analysis, provide regular financial reporting and forecasting, address financial problems, and help capitalize on financial opportunities.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Budget Development & Management

  • Conducts revenue, expense, and cost analyses to assist in preparing annual operating and capital budgets; as well as in updating fee schedules.

  • Performs monthly budget reconciliation, variance analysis, and projections; and provides a financial reporting package to leadership.

Account Reconciliation

  • Manages the monthly reconciliation of ledger accounts across all FAOs to ascertain the integrity of data, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures for accounting systems.

  • Performs analyses, audits, and tests necessary to ascertain integrity of accounting data, account balances, and ensure accurate reporting.

  • Ensures the maintenance of complete financial records.

Financial Intelligence

  • Proactively utilizes financial data to identify areas of concern and opportunities for improvement.

  • Assesses opportunities for cost savings and revenue optimization.

  • Compiles and/or prepares reports, graphs and charts of data analyzed; makes recommendations based on research.

Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)

  • Provides support in the analysis of financial data for the SHIP.

Financial Transaction Management

  • Reviews financial transactions for accuracy and budget implications prior to approval.

  • Initiates transactions such as journal entries, expense reports, supplier invoice requests, purchase orders, etc. as necessary.

Occupational Health Billing

  • Administers the Occupational Health internal billing process, maintains an up-to-date Accounts Receivable, follows up with departments as necessary, and responds to department inquiries.

Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required

  • Masters degree preferred

  • or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • 4+ years of related experience required

  • or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel required

  • Experience with University of Rochester systems including UR Financials, IORA, URGems, UR Student, IBM Cognos, and HRMS is preferred. Experience with data base tools desired.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $59,197 - $82,888 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
