FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION OF UNIT:

The Coordinator of Instructional Programming is a critical part of an integrated team of instructional professionals in the Division of Teaching and Learning, which supports the schools of the Rochester City School District. The Coordinator provides direct assistance to the Chief Academic Officer in coordinating, planning, and implementing specialized instructional programs within District schools, promoting academic excellence, and enhancing the educational experience of students across the district. The Coordinator will facilitate initiatives within the Division of Teaching and Learning, including amongst Instructional Directors and School Chiefs, and across other departments within the district. The Coordinator will demonstrate a collaborative work ethic, supportive commitment to high levels of performance for students and adults, flexibility in daily routines, and full participation in a culture of equity and accountability.FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION OF UNIT:

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a District-level coordinator and liaison for schools implementing specialized instructional programs or models. (e.g. CollegeBoard, International Baccalaureate, Expeditionary Learning, AVID, dual-credit programs, etc.)

  • Serve as a District-level coordinator for Instructional Coaching and instructional support services.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive district-wide plans for special programming in alignment with the District’s strategic goals.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to school administrators, teachers, and staff regarding the design, delivery, and assessment of special program curriculum, instructional practices, and resources.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of special projects and programs, collecting and analyzing data to inform decision-making, identify areas for improvement, and drive accountability.

  • Lead and/or facilitate key Teaching and Learning initiatives, including the planning, articulation and monitoring of new program development.

  • Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to problems that can be complex and non-routine.

  • Represent the Division of Teaching and Learning in coordinating and collaborating across departments to ensure alignment of all layers of the organization to facilitate the implementation of the district’s strategic plan, new initiatives, and specialized programs.

  • Work collaboratively with Central Office Departments, principals and school leadership to provide monitoring and support of funding that supports and promotes school improvement.

  • Identifies enablers and key issues prior to and during implementation, raises issues with stakeholders and offers solutions to resolve issues or risks that jeopardize delivery.

  • Routinely analyzes data to promote and support effective strategic planning and project implementation.

  • Coordinates the development of reports and materials that represent the work of the division as required by external organizations, state agencies and district partnerships.

  • Develop and deliver professional development opportunities to support teachers in implementing special program frameworks and pedagogical approaches, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and student engagement.

  • Provide support and assistance to the Chief Academic Officer in the implementation of Division goals and objectives annually and performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATION:

  • 5 years of effective teaching, coaching, and leadership experience as evidenced by enhanced student achievement preferred

  • New York State Certification for School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in curriculum creation, planning and facilitating professional learning, and implementation of effective instructional strategies for all grade levels and audiences.

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, expertise in oral and written communication, and strong interpersonal skills including giving and receiving constructive feedback.

  • Demonstrated ability to integrate multiple functions and function effectively with all levels of management throughout the District

  • Demonstrated expertise in effective systems, structures and instructional models that support teaching and learning; financial management in support of schools; and regulations that govern district-level decision making.
