Robert Half Accounting Manager in Rochester, New York

Description We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity for an Accounting Manager in the construction industry. The role is located in Rochester, New York, and involves managing accounting activities across multiple small entities.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee budgeting and cost control processes to ensure financial efficiency

• Conduct cost accounting and job costing for accurate project financial tracking

• Compile regular financial reports for stakeholders

• Ensure tax compliance to avoid legal issues and penalties

• Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure financial stability

• Oversee general ledger (G/L) entries and month-end/year-end closing activities

• Mentor and guide an accounting clerk in their detail oriented development

• Assist in the implementation of QuickBooks to modernize accounting processes

• Collaborate with team members to ensure the completion of all accounting tasks.

• Leverage accounting software systems and ERP solutions to streamline work processes.

Skills:

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems and QuickBooks

• Knowledge of ADP - Financial Services, ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning, ERP Solutions, and Great Plains (GPAC)

• Ability to perform Accounting Functions, Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Auditing

• Familiarity with Billing Functions, Cost Accounting, Cost Analysis

• Experience in Construction Accounting and Construction Cost calculations. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role such as Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems • Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services • Experience with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning and ERP Solutions • Knowledge of Great Plains (GPAC) software • Strong understanding of Accounting Functions, including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) • Experience in Auditing processes and procedures • Knowledge of Billing Functions within an organization • Proficiency in Cost Accounting and Cost Analysis • Experience in the Construction industry, specifically Construction Accounting and Construction Cost • Proficiency in QuickBooks software • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines • High attention to detail and accuracy.
