C.H. Robinson Senior Data Center Engineer in Rochester, Minnesota

C.H Robinson is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Center Engineer to join our Infrastructure team. You will play a critical role in the day-to-day operations of the 24 x 7 x 365 data center operations at data center facilities delivering IT systems to global CHR branch offices, customers and partners.

This position will be located in our Oronoco Data Center facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, troubleshoot, and modify IT hardware in collaboration with IT infrastructure teams including network, storage, server, security and project management.

  • Monitor data center systems including electrical, HVAC, fire system and security to proactively identify and resolve issues.

  • Track electrical, cooling, space capacity and provide recommendations to manage efficiently with Building Managment System (BMS)

  • Administer the physical security system including card access and cameras according to corporate security policies and data center industry best practices.

  • Support and administer tools including the Building Management System (BMS), battery monitoring system, and analyze reporting trends to look for opportunities to improve system efficiency.

  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and emergency repairs with the vendors

  • Perform annual capacity planning and budget estimates

  • Respond to on-call- issues and communicate resolutions

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years’ experience with enterprise class electrical, mechanical, fire and security systems.

  • Excellent vendor management and communications skills.

  • Experience working in mission critical 24 x 7 x 365 facilities.

  • Advanced experience in evaluating electrical and mechanical contractor bidding through the RFP or RFI process.

  • Demonstrated experience with preventative maintenance program management for mechanical, electrical, and security systems.

  • Working knowledge of automated Building Management Systems (BMS) to monitor and control critical systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Information technology support experience for hardware including servers, network devices and storage systems.

  • Degree in Information Technology or engineering including electrical or mechanical.

  • Excellent written skills including Method of Procedure (MOP) documentation.
